1. I have done quite a lot of ocean sailing, and I often struggle to describe it to my friends and family. Your lovely video absolutely sums it up. Well done! I usually , when asked what to take on an ocean crossing, is 'take a lot of books to read'. The periods of terror are much less than you think.

  2. Truly loved this one. All of your episodes are first rate, but the shots of Florence with a “ bone in her teeth” and flying along as she was built to do, were thrilling. Great work, you two! You Rock, as a transoceanic team! 👍🏻😎👏🏻👏🏻

  3. How can you skip the whole of Brazil? One of the most beautiful countries on earth. The most amazing nature, incredibly friendly people, fantastic culture, music, food, the list is endless. Check out all cruisers who have been, they had the best time. It is actually quite safe and certainly a lot safer than a lot of places you have been. I have been living here for 15 years and always feel very disappointed to see people who call themselves adventures and who go around the world passing right by one the best and biggest destination of them all. There is a lot of misinformation out there, the media is really doing a very bad job. We had the world cup and the olympics and everything went incredibly smoothly in spite of all the naysayers. You don't know what you have missed. There are plenty of great brazilian sailing channels which show it like it is for real.

  4. Have you considered putting a high sided oven tray or similar on your stove top held on with your pan holders to put your plates/bowls/cups on/in whilst you serve…it saves things sliding around and can make it easier to serve as your plates and cups etc will gimbal on the stove top rather than sliding along your worktop?

  5. You have mastered the art of really showing the waves And conditions . Other channels the photography flattens out the waves. When you get back home you will have enough skills to make documentaries for other people

  6. Great to see Irka from Ukraine in your Video as you said good bye to St. Helena! We met her Sailing in Madagascar! Guess the sailing world is small. Fair winds!

  7. Amazing as ever.

    Still the best sailing channel.

Love your long passage films and love it when you explain the sail plans and what you are doing with the boat. I can sail but I don’t have the offshore experience like you do and I have learnt so much from your explanations.

Matt and Amy if you have not been back to the UK in 6 years you will get a shock how expensive things have become and the atmosphere has changed. I want to get out of here yesterday. It’s really quite depressing.

  8. This did look like one of your easier passages, excluding cooking dinner in those heavy swells! It must have been more relaxing and less stress not having to navigate around a lot of ship traffic, and not having to deal with thunderstorms. As always, looking forward to the next episode and learning a bit about an island I had never heard of until watching this video.

  9. 8:07 why do you need to round up to reef? We reef running hard downwind. Also to limit the rolling, we pole the headsail out to leeward and over trim the main a bit. We still achieve hull speed but roll much less.

  10. Lazy Jacks. I was thinking about how much of a pain they can be when setting the main in a seaway. But then just how quickly I can really appreciate them when dousing it in the dark! You take me there, and I am so appreciative! Thank you. Fair winds and following seas!

  11. Why does most cruisers prefer to go wing on wing, rolling from side to side, bobbing around and complaining about unpleasant rolling? Instead of sailing long legs in a zigzag pattern, so that the wind can keep the boat steady. The trip is getting a bit longer, but you get better boat speed and it’s a LOT more comfortable.
