I have done quite a lot of ocean sailing, and I often struggle to describe it to my friends and family. Your lovely video absolutely sums it up. Well done! I usually , when asked what to take on an ocean crossing, is 'take a lot of books to read'. The periods of terror are much less than you think.
Agree with many on here – definitely my fav sailing channel. Keep up the excellent work Amy and Matt.
Mutchly mutchly enjoyed, thank you
Truly loved this one. All of your episodes are first rate, but the shots of Florence with a “ bone in her teeth” and flying along as she was built to do, were thrilling. Great work, you two! You Rock, as a transoceanic team! 👍🏻😎👏🏻👏🏻
Everytime I see that Treadmaster I’m a fan . I wonder if I can find a company in Annapolis that will laser cut it from patterns cheap. Did you hand cut it
I would like to know what is the beam width
nailed it as always
Loved this vid 🙂 Thanks for taking us with you!
The open trade wind sailing clip (7 min 45secs) made it look like Matt was sat infront of a green screen with special affect waves put in afterwards 😂❤😂
Damn, your cooking makes me so hungry. There's something about a simple meal prepared fresh on a boat like that…
Perfect
You are amazing.
I look forward to your videos. Great job. Thank you.
How can you skip the whole of Brazil? One of the most beautiful countries on earth. The most amazing nature, incredibly friendly people, fantastic culture, music, food, the list is endless. Check out all cruisers who have been, they had the best time. It is actually quite safe and certainly a lot safer than a lot of places you have been. I have been living here for 15 years and always feel very disappointed to see people who call themselves adventures and who go around the world passing right by one the best and biggest destination of them all. There is a lot of misinformation out there, the media is really doing a very bad job. We had the world cup and the olympics and everything went incredibly smoothly in spite of all the naysayers. You don't know what you have missed. There are plenty of great brazilian sailing channels which show it like it is for real.
I often wonder why I don’t see anyone heaving to when cooking a meal? Wouldn’t it be easier even if it cost you a hour?
Have you considered putting a high sided oven tray or similar on your stove top held on with your pan holders to put your plates/bowls/cups on/in whilst you serve…it saves things sliding around and can make it easier to serve as your plates and cups etc will gimbal on the stove top rather than sliding along your worktop?
Thank you so much for sharing what I can only see thru you!!!
Hi Amy and Matt another great episode. Not going to mainland Brazil? Highly recommend Salvador. I know it’s further south! Have fun.
This is why I love your videos. Open ocean not much to see yet you manage to make your content interesting and engaging. Loving the 360deg camera angles too!
Eff that. No thankyou.
So possibly £60 for you to drop your anchor from your boat into some water that happens to be near their land, what do they do to earn£60. What a rip-off.
You have mastered the art of really showing the waves And conditions . Other channels the photography flattens out the waves. When you get back home you will have enough skills to make documentaries for other people
Love the new music, it is a bit more fitting for you two..Love watching the both of you
Truly one of the best video’s on ocean passage. One really gets an accurate depiction of how it would feel to be out there.
Great to see Irka from Ukraine in your Video as you said good bye to St. Helena! We met her Sailing in Madagascar! Guess the sailing world is small. Fair winds!
Amazing as ever.
Still the best sailing channel.
Love your long passage films and love it when you explain the sail plans and what you are doing with the boat. I can sail but I don’t have the offshore experience like you do and I have learnt so much from your explanations.
Matt and Amy if you have not been back to the UK in 6 years you will get a shock how expensive things have become and the atmosphere has changed. I want to get out of here yesterday. It’s really quite depressing.
great as always
Thank goodness for fiddles in the Galley. Amy’s 5 star cuisine!
Cheers!
This did look like one of your easier passages, excluding cooking dinner in those heavy swells! It must have been more relaxing and less stress not having to navigate around a lot of ship traffic, and not having to deal with thunderstorms. As always, looking forward to the next episode and learning a bit about an island I had never heard of until watching this video.
We look forward to your exceptional videos. We learn so much about how to be better sailors and travelers to other cultures.
Does that black deck get hot to stand on?
Fair Winds and Following Seas. Greetings from South Africa! Enjoy!
8:07 why do you need to round up to reef? We reef running hard downwind. Also to limit the rolling, we pole the headsail out to leeward and over trim the main a bit. We still achieve hull speed but roll much less.
Humans don't need vegetables and the fish can be eaten raw. You only make work for yourself and tax the gut with useless, inedible fibre.
Have you ever checked behind the rubber stop on the mast for your pole? I've got exactly the same and I found the mast had corroded ( and out of sight ) behind the rubber
♥️♥️🥰🥰
Curious why you do 4hrs on 4hrs off when four hours of sleep is never enough?
What an outstanding video. Arguably one of your best. The clarity and shot selection was simply outstanding. Some good tips also gleaned from this video too. Yhank you 🙏
Lazy Jacks. I was thinking about how much of a pain they can be when setting the main in a seaway. But then just how quickly I can really appreciate them when dousing it in the dark! You take me there, and I am so appreciative! Thank you. Fair winds and following seas!
Beautiful sailing!!!
Jesus the creator of cosmos loves you, repent today! ❤️
Absolutely stunning photography and narration. Just gets better and better. Thanks so much.
Wow, you guys should go further down south to appreciate beauty “Paraty”, “Angra dos Reis” and “Ubatuba” and live all Brazilian hospitality! Have a nice and safe trip!
Why does most cruisers prefer to go wing on wing, rolling from side to side, bobbing around and complaining about unpleasant rolling? Instead of sailing long legs in a zigzag pattern, so that the wind can keep the boat steady. The trip is getting a bit longer, but you get better boat speed and it’s a LOT more comfortable.
I would think the constant sailing downwind with the boat rolling would be exhausting.
I think what you are doing is really amazing, I also think you need a bigger boat.
