2. Those Herrings aren't pickled, they are marinated in brine. They are an acquired taste. I didn't like the first time I tasted them but now I absolutely love them. You should sprinkle the chopped onions over the herring and lay the Dill slices on top. Loved this vid Sam. I spent many years living in Holland and working on the traditional sailing ships like the one you toured.

6. I like how some Dutch people literally translate sentences into English. When the dutch skipper was explaining the English rudder system: "do you see it (be)fore you?"(as in: 'in front of you'), Coming from: "zie je het voor je?", properly translated: "can you picture it?" 😄. I do love my little country

32. On one hand, the end-of-season atmosphere bums me out, but on the other Sam never stops moving and sailing so I look forward to whatever's next, for example taking Zoey to Martha's Vineyard in a bathtub you found in a scrapyard

38. I know the nieuwe maen! They even asked me to sail with them to Enkhuizen but I didn't have the time 🙁

39. The biocide helps the diesel. Also top up the tank. Less air in the tank helps.
