Ocean Cruising – Fixing yachts in beautiful angkerages = WITH GOOD FRIENDS . I delivered a Hanse 505 3 years old from New Caledonia to Hawaii , Nice all the extras BUT – Deep sea boat Hmmm.
Hello Thomas and Rick I hope you get your electrical fixed because a good cold beer goes down good with food stay safe and healthy God bless you
We used to watch a neighbors house , He died of covid, The son came and acted like we OWE him for the landscaping etc that we did. Now the house is a mess, oWell. I bet that is what happened to that nice boat
Thomas , the derelict boat, you described the inside as being a mess with a jungle growing. then you showed the current situation inside your boat, it seemed to only be missing the jungle growing…LoL just kidding Fair Winds
Thomas, I really enjoy your attitude and how you mention the viewers as part of the daily chores!! I also enjoy every part of your selected cuts and edits. Thanks for showing how tough things are, and I can assure that the valuable assistance of Rick is appreciated by everyone that follows your channel. Thanks, Rick and Thomas!!!
So sad to see the condition of such a fine boat.
Owner died maybe?
That would be a very expensive project to bring back to life.
Love the editing and music of the dancing scene!
Well done, as always. Sail on brother.
If you don’t want to get into it, no worries, but I don’t understand why loss of power means you need to recharge the refrigerant in the fridge and freezer. Is that a boat thing?
Big shout out Rick. Really happy to see a good Canadian tradition of neigbour helping neigbour. Thank you, you are both good neigbours.
That abandoned 575 – heartbreaking.
Please update us with the backstory if you find out.
If your electrical woes are from the lighting strike, I wonder if designing the boat to have a copper rod going from the top of the mast down through the bottom of the keel, exposed at the top and below the waterline would help protect the electrical system of the boat. It might generate an increase in lightning strikes, but as a direct path to ground it would bypass the hull and electrical system and thus, protect the boat from damage.
and what happen with your battery this is important info. next time for you ,and for all sailor planing sail around world. dont use this lifepo4 90-100 ah 12v with internal BMS. use winston, calb 2x3x xx 100-2000 ah 3,2 lifepo4 battery with 5A active balancer and optional remote BMS. 1- per bank Victron shunt meter.
yes chinses Winston, CALB LiFePO4 is 100-200% more expensive but you receive what you pay. for day sailor couple time in year this battle born battery is ok
Team work makes dream work!
Sad to see the Hanse, hope some enthusiast can save her… cheers from (too) warm Scandinavia!

A day with a pressure washer would work wonders for the Hanse.
Love you Thomas. I'm happy you got Sophisticated Lady in your corner.
Sorry mate, I watched your video and I didn't click like or leave a comment. I was busy. I didn't take the time. Later, I was thinking about not leaving a comment. I realized the injustice to you. Even with everything you had going on, you delivered. It was a great fortune that you were able to locate the fans. It was an even greater fortune having an immensely qualified, dear friend to help you out. With Rick's assistance, I'm sure the boat was shipshape for your friend's arrival. Cheers!
What a good and knowledgeable guy rick is

Sad to see a Hanse in that shape
Hi Thomas!
Very sad to see a boat like that Hanse. It really hurts…
On the other hand, I'm sure you'll have your boat ready, when your friend arrives.
Enjoy the company!
Cheers!
Cheers!!
Man, what a sad boat, I can only imagine what it looks like inside. A real 'ghost boat', something bad dreams are made of. Thumbs up for Capt Rick, what a guy. Wow, a fine looking shipmate for two weeks, lucky Thomas.
Thanks Rick for all the help. I know Thomas appreciates it. Friends like Rick are cherished.
Don’t know about salvage rules but as a finder, can’t you strip the boat for parts to cover cost of cutting the boat in pieces. I mean the mast, keel, engine, winches, chain and anchors should be worth something on the second hand market with such a new boat. What do you think?
How bloody sad to see a vessel like that in that state.
It looks like the abandoned Hanse 575 boat is called 'Luna'. Curiously a 2016 version of the same name was recently for sale in Vigo Spain. With your research abilities and contacts, perhaps you'll get more details in time.
I'm curious if boat electrical systems are certified the same way as domestic/commercial buildings are. At least the manufacturer should provide documentation prepared by a certified electical engineer. In many ways the risks are greater on a boat and if the design of the system is inadequate from the outset, there will be extra problems. Sounds like it would be worth investing in a proper survey once the repairs are completed.
Tack Thomas för ett bra avsnitt igen.
Tråkigt och se en så nedgången hanse båt,
Det hade varit roligt om du kunde få storyn varför den ser ut som den gör.
Bra att ha bra seglarkompisar som Rick.
Chers Peter
Du behöver nog träna något mer på dina moves!
Another video despite your trials Thomas extraordinary hope you get it all sorted. Interesting how you chose twin rudders when many are talking encapsulated or integral keels and skeg hung rudders. Fair winds.
hey can we get more info on your friends electric dinghy. I almost cried when I see that 575. how could anyone let that go to shit. I bet it wouldn't take a lot to get it back in shape as far as time goes just money. Oh yeah I been looking for several days thinking where is Thomas video, I truly enjoy your videos.
I first seen be free in bocas town when I was sailing with Rick about three years ago. Man time flies
Good 2 c u have a friend like captain rick very hard 2 find a true friend may u have fair sailing.
Can owners not be contacted?
quick jet wash job done, inside bit of filler and paint,
Man, that's pathetic who would do that? Could it be saved?
Do you happen to know if there are any identifying marking on the abandoned boat that might be searchable to contact the current owner?
so sad to see this beautiful Hanse in such a bad shape, would love to have my hands on this boat and make it shiny and useful again
Hey Thomas, I want to put together a 'Go Fund Me' to save that Hansa 575. Immigration should have the information on who sailed it into the country.
Is there any way you could get contact information for the immigration office there?
Anymore abandoned boat like that
poor thing
The british flagged Hanse 575 named Dove lost its rudder in mid Atlantic. Abandoned by its owners and never found…
It breaks my heart to see that Hanse, sitting there disintegrating. Tell me where it is so I can take it and rebuild it. No boat deserves to be treated like that.
