  1. Interesting situation considering that the Royal Family's income from estates of the Crown could easily pay of the yacht's upkeep, but that foolish agreement that Crown maintains with the Government to turn over all profit from Crown estates to the government and in return get a stipend is beyond the pale. I saw that the King confirmed it during his announcements. Yet the fools in England think that their taxes pay for the Royals…I laugh every time I hear someone say it. A true testament to the retarding of the general populations intelligence.

  2. I have a feeling their might’ve been public disquiet of spending relatively large sums of money operating and maintaining this yacht, and therefore the question was put as to whether or not the government should continue to foot the bill to keep the yacht in operation. My personal opinion as a lesser observer is that the royal navy should’ve included these expenses in their budgets, I could very well be wrong.

  3. Wow. How about the f*cking royal family pay for its own perks and privileges?? Create a republic already and toss these pampered sh*twits.

  4. That last line is straight up comical. What a tragedy! The ultra-wealthy and privileged can't have one of their biggest toys paid for by the general public!

  5. Those of us who served in the Royal Navy had mixed feelings about HM Yacht Brittania, especially those who served on her.. I was happy to see her go.

  6. I read an article that suggests it was a mistake to let the ship go.
Apparently they didn’t consider the intangible benefits of it being the royal yacht of the crown.
During its history there were major issues in the commonwealth that no one would budge on but for some reason when the principals were invited aboard, even without the queen there, suddenly people were motivated to make deals.
Never underestimate the trappings of power and influence when it come to managing events.

  7. LOL. I literally said "Oh no!" when the Queen stated that the royal yacht was to be retired. Then cackled because these people are so removed from the real world, it's ridiculous. It's a yacht. The loss of a yacht is not a tragedy, like this show implies as the director slowly and portentously zooms in on the Queen's face as a whole committee of royals sit around, like they were at a cabinet meeting readying for war or something. It's the loss of a completely superfluous bauble that no self-respecting nation should be shelling taxpayer money for. It's a symbol that if it had hung around longer, it would've become more and more hated by the British people. Ughh…the royals. They need to get a grip on themselves.

  8. I'll never understand why the Queen, the richest woman in the world, can't simply pay her own bills. If she loved the damn yacht so much, why not pay for it?

  9. Despite all of these, the UK monarch can be considered still lucky that they are not shackled by the same restrictions placed onto the Japanese imperials.

  10. ….ordered by a real Transylvanian and Eastern Germanic Matriarch, Elisabeth Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (not really Windsor-Monbatten, changed before WW2, didn’t want people realizing they were actually not British)

  11. I don’t see the tragedy here for the royal elitists. Shipping containers are rather expensive and important to society, and they should consider themselves lucky that one has the opportunity to become a symbolic representation of Her Majesty.

  12. It is really shortsighted how the royals handle this sort of thing. They should plant the trees used years in advance, use the classic name of the royal yacht, and for the love of God, have the monarchy pay for it. This henpecking is absurd – they can afford it.

  13. aren't they the richest family on earth? why couldn't they afford to own it outright and pay the bill themselves?

  14. The casting for Blair is awful. Looks absolutely nothing like him. At least with the previous actors for PMs they tried to get them to have some resemblance. Aside from that though good scene

  15. What other royal family has their own Grand yacht? Maybe a few oil rich states, no European ones…..a ridiculous anachronism at the tax payers expense.
