    Think about it this way: He's got three choices: He can go as slow or slower than you so he doesn't pass you and thereby roll you with his wake, but

    then he's gotta wait for you to get clear before he can go about his day.

    He could go real fast; get up on a plane so his wake is smaller when he passes, but then he looks like an A-hole anyway for going so fast.

    OR…. he can overtake you at a modest speed (what he did) so he doesn't have to wait all day for you…. And he's not labeled an A-hole speed demon.

    Remember, you are in a displacement vessel that takes waves very well, even on the beam. You've done it SOOO many times.
    
    Just do what I do: have some fun and turn into his wake as he passes so you take the swell on the nose instead of the beam.

    I have a tiny 17 foot sloop and still I love it when a big boat passes me… The bigger the wake, the better… I turn into it and It's

    "WEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!"

    HOWEVER….
    
    A few years ago a friend and I were in a small sunfish type sailboat minding our own business in a narrow channel (Rockport Texas) when this A-hole in

    a Hatteras comes up from behind us doin about 20 knots. At that perfect speed he's stirrin up about a four foot wake and he's going to pass us real

    close. He knows this and obviously doesn't give sht about our measly 8 inches of freeboard or that we're about to be swamped by his wake. So he keeps

    coming… Just as he's about to pass us I make eye contac with him and the dipsht RUNS AGROUND… HARD on a sandbar we just bumbed 5 minutes earlier

    with our daggerboard.

    We had a big laugh (so he could hear us) and we never got swamped… He was busy calling Sea Tow.

    So yes, there are some A-holes out there but most people are just trying to get somewhere too.

22. I gotta know something. How do you calmly dangle all your tasty bits in the ocean like you you did at the end of your video without worrying constantly about getting bit in half by something with teeth? At what point do you find that even the slightest bit relaxing? For me that would be nerve wracking and totally without any appeal whatsoever and I gotta know the answer. Please. Is it just a devil may care attitude? Do you use pharmaceutical products ? Are you just both completely out of your minds? Was it just for show? Is this a regular habit? I don't even swim in the lake and we have an awesome lake 25 miles from my house. I was in the Navy and barely ever even got my feet wet on purpose in the ocean and I just don't get it. I would be flipping out. If you had any idea what kind of monsters lurk in the deep I don't think either of you would be able to sleep at night. There be far worse things than sharks and whales out thar' . Thar' be devils in the ocean. The likes of which haunt the dreams of saints and sinners alike. Jus' sayin'.🤣

23. Doesn't the rust on all the bars bug you? It would drive me crazy I think. I was thinking how cool it might look if it was all powder coated in a black textured paint. Not sure if powder coat is the right term and maybe even just spay painted black might be cool. I guess that would make them hot in the sun. Hrm. Still think it would look cool. I do like a chrome look sometimes but with so many bars you get so many light reflections off all the bars it's kind of distracting to the eyes. I dunno, I just think black would look slick but maybe not.

25. Matt, Rule 6 in the Navigation rules states that you are responsible for your wake no matter where you are.. You had every right to be mad, that was a bad movie by the power boat.

29. That dodger is amazing!! We bought our sailboat, Full Moon (44" Hunter DS), in Fajardo in 2011. Such a beautiful place. There is nothing like the sound when you kill the engine and the wind takes over.
