Of Places South: A 2022 Montage.

  1. Well-conceived, artfully filmed and lovingly presented. Congratulations, Mr. O'Reilly on this moving and respectful presentation. My ancestors hail from St. Kyran's and I had the wonderful experience over several days to visit the area many years ago. Once again, thank you for rekindling those sweet memories.

  2. As always Ed, very well done and very touching. My neighbours for over 40 years are the Lake family from Oderin and I will be sure to tell them about this video and your upcoming videos.

  3. Such wonderful discovery for me! My dad was born in 1903 and grew up in Jersey Harbour. This is the first time I have ever seen Jersey Harbour and it was very exciting but also very moving for me. It is on my bucket list to visit some day, somehow. BTW, we have C&C32 which we sail on Lake Ontario… I could imagine your wonderful journey. Thank you!!!

  4. My partner and I had the good fortune to have business at Memorial University back in 2018. We took an extra couple of weeks to wander the southern part of the island. It is truly a magical place. The landscapes and coastlines spoke to our hearts in a way that was completely unexpected.
Our plan is to return this coming year or the next. There's so much to see and experience, and we know we barely touched the tip of it all. We won't likely get the chance to explore quite as closely as you have the opportunity to do, but we will still feel privileged to be able to visit such an extraordinary place.
We found the reference to your travel documentaries on the Land and Sea program. Thank you for sharing!
    Cheers Ed…

  5. What a magnificent video! Happy it showed up in my feed, and have subscribed. Your drone footage is worthy of Erik Aanderaa! And your material is well assembled, adding the historical images for a 'then and now' perspective is really valuable. One of my dreams is to spend a summer circumnavigating NL, it couldn't be anything other than fabulous. I'm clewing up a Day Skipper course, if you're looking for an extra hand any time, even a day sail in winter, I'm up for it. Greetings from Petty Harbour.

  6. A moving collection of these mesmerizing places that still have songs in their hills.

My dad is a Lake from Oderin.
We go back every summer…it is the place I feel most grounded. When Katrine said that her heart was full after her visit, my heart soared…I know that feeling so well. ❤

  7. Spectacular video, Ed !

Sailor & historian, poet, patriot and videographer, few can rival Ed for his love of the history and heritage of our island home.

Besides the lovely video work, and drone footage, and the polished editing, I love the way Ed is able to infuse a lyrical and romantic tone to the overall flavour.
