1. Dear Matt and Amy, we are so happy for you guys, reading the awesome comments below complimenting your film making skills and achievements, ditto to all of them. Great job on this one and best of luck for the remaining journey homewards, we look forward to catching up with you next year, lots of Love, Jo & Steve, have a great Christmas

  2. As for the VHF radio, I suggest you go by the old prepper rule: one is none, two is one, and three is a good start. But you obviously have a pretty good idea on this as you also had the hand held radio. Of course, I’d suggest you get an amateur radio license so you could also get a high frequency radio. Depending on conditions, a high frequency radio can communicate up to thousands of miles. Of course, you guys are limited on power so I imagine that would be a constraint too.

  3. Guys, if as you sail by the US going home, be sure and stop near Cape Canaveral. SpaceX launches a Falcon 9 rocket once a week on average. Sometimes they wait a couple weeks and do them twice a week. There also have a bunch of Falcon Heavy launches scheduled. They are a much more powerful rocket. I’ve seen a lot of launches and I can’t imagine ever getting bored with them. They are just too amazing.

  4. Well, at least 110,000 subscribers and many potential future customers now know to avoid " Summit" VHF radios . Quality youtube channels like your provide a real view of the genre.
Being older and an old school radio fan, I always liked ICOM brand personally

  5. I know this comment echos many others, but I love your channel. Reality.. not romanticized or sexualized. Something I can watch with the kids, which I appreciate 👍

  6. Papillon was kind of a big scam, Henry Charrière freely inspired himself from other inmates’ stories. I recommend you read Dry Guillotine, he was the one who escaped the Devil’s Island on a raft.

  7. Thanks for all your hard work and the magical videos you produce…and well timed for a space ship launch…⛵🌍🚀
Hard to believe that I found you when you were still in the UK, 😳

Time definitely flies…you have one life and you're certainly living (and loving) yours 👍

  8. Why do you buy such cheap radios from Walmart? An Icom lasted 25 years with a 8 nm range presently on my steering console and my friend has a Standard Horizon he's had for 11 years, he's about to replace with an Icom.

  9. You both pour your heart and soul into every video and it shows. Thank you. I'm sorry I can't justify becoming a Patreon (for financial reasons) but I hope by subscribing and watching every episode and all the ads I am contributing something. I've been watching for a number of years.

  10. Excellent boat management. Excellent information too on how to do things, which helps others. Superb. What a shame about the crappy S.African VHF radio brand. Any decent retailer or brand would just have given a transparent user such as yourselves a refund in full. Are there any connected people in the marine services and products industry in S Africa who would care to comment?

  11. Great video! Always been impressed with how easily the editing seemed to come to you guys – lots of other channels commented on it alot but it never seemed to figure with you, couldn't work out how you did it! Must be really frustrating when you're constantly sailing to other destinations to have to post things back to people. Must have been amazing watching the Arianne 5 launch!

  12. So I wonder if the 37,000 people who have watched this video in two days have put Summit down on their naughty list. I certainly have. Great video guys. One would expect the BBC to be keenly awaiting your arrival home, waving contracts at you.

  13. Wow! Who would have thought in addition to all your other experiences you would get to see a rocket launch! Have to confess that I had no idea that French Guiana was in South America! My geography is expanding! Another beautiful video. I also had no idea that Devil’s Island was in French Guiana! Loved Papillon. ⛵️

  14. Having circumnavigated the world 7 times both on commercial and my own private vessel , I can say welcome to the club ! Yes things break and need maintenance all the time . This is where learning and expertise allows for sensible spares as some things are hard to acquire in remote locations and somethings can be adequately be repaired on your own . I once pulled my drive shaft on wotho atoll in micronesia by sterning myself to a palm tree with the help of the natives , and then flying it to the majuro for repairs at a machine shop then returning and replacing it . We called in the flight via a shortwave on a very scary rarely used landing strip .

  15. Nice video and thanks for the effort! Lucky the light was an easy fix! You also might want to 'fix' the bowline knot you tied into. The bowline knot, the seamen's best friend is in the world of climbing called the death knot. And for a good reason. because under load it is fine, but with alternating loads it can loosen up/ come undone or snaps loose when loaded again (falling) To be safe, please always! use an extra tie off a bowline knot with; a stopper knot, a Valdetorian tie off, or simply use a figure of 8 knot. Be safe and looking forward to the next video!

  16. I am amazed when I see a rocket launch like that, because my invention, the Centrifugal Propeller, will make all rockets obsolete in a very short time. It makes me wonder why my invention is largely ignored while billions of dollars are spent on the obsolete rocket technology. I have a working proof-of-concept prototype and will soon have a working practical-purpose prototype. The main reason that it has taken so long is that I am self-financed, through my business, and the scamdemic set my business back 3 years. I am hoping that in March 2023, I will have a public demo of the new prototype.
