1. Sometimes it’s not fun pulling up the anchor chain but we do what needs to be done .I don’t have a windless either , I don’t even have one to fix LOl 😅

  2. Lauren, I have to tell you ,you really impress me . All in one package ,repairs ,diving ,hauling anchor ,endurance .All the best for 2023 . Cheers from Canada

  3. I forgot to mention a trick I used ; when hauling anchor on board/ or hauling an anchor -line to kedge off a shoul,,
improvise a long snubber back to your hallyard or sheet-winch using an old sheet-rope and tie your famous knot onto anchor-chain or your # 1 snubber, and wind away, ( at the awkward swivel moment, tension up and then go up near mast and lift rope or pulse it up onto high mast clete, this may just get swivel over and hold it till you go back to sheet-winch )
Hope this makes sense, if not novil reading, lol

  4. I sail solo and a windlass with controls at the helm are the best investment I've made on my 37' Endeavour; makes life so much easier. But hell; you are doing it and doing it well!

  5. Whene you mentioned mosquitoes, and no breeze, I searched the internet to see if a fan can reduce mosquitoes. There was a NYTimes article that talks about this and it does reduce the mosquitoes because they don't have the strength to overcome the breeze from a fan. I think I will put a box fan, or oscillating fan pointing at me when I'm out at the boat. ChatGPT also points out the fan helps to disperse the heat and carbon dioxide that attract mosquitoes.

  6. this channel doesn't seem real.. a beautiful intelligent girl and a cat sailing all by herself? And like it is no big deal.. just mind blowing.. mind blown. Setting up cameras and talking to them also.. just wow. I'd be freaking out … I'm freaking out just thinking about it. Seems like great fun, but so dangerous

  7. So did miss what is wrong with your anchor windlass? You are one tonight and determined young lady Lauren. What’s it going to take to fix the now roller?

Keep it up great channel always look forward to your videos

  9. Love your video Happy New Year let me give you a good tip you need to have a good soldering iron Weller was the interchangeable tips want to have tinning the little round can to Tin tips of the soldering iron you want to just really good solder you also want to by yourself quality wire 12 gauge 14 gauge 16 gauge but real equality good outer Shield for the elements. Crimping is okay but I promise you you'll be repairing that again because the second Salt Air gets to it bye-bye. The other thing you want to get shrink wrap they sell pre-cut shrink wrap different sizes and colors put a shrink wrap over what you've soldered or what you've cramped you hit it with a heat gun and you got a really good Shield I could say more if you need more information you can hit me up. I used to do this stuff for a living repair electronics electrical equipment for under a hundred bucks you going to have some really good equipment& parts that that you'll use for years

  10. Hi Lauren, i've just discover your channel 👍👍could you tell me the size of your boat ? Retreat in 3 years and my project is to buy a sailboat. Greeting from France 😉

  11. Happy New Year, Lauren! It was impressive to pull the anchor up single-handedly. I am also a sailor, and a pilot. During the past Thanksgiving break, I took my family out on a 37' Beneteau and anchored in SF Bay near the Golden Gate Bridge. I was glad I had my 21 yr old daughter to help me out in anchoring. Have fun in your adventure. It would be my dream to circumnavigate the world when I am retired. _____Alex

  12. Think I found my new sailing channel! Was amazing watching you pull up that anchor then put the sails up and get on your way! I was impressed right off the bat! I like many, think that windless needs to be fixed first. That will kill your back in the long hall. You got this!

  13. Hi, I found and followed your adventures a few weeks ago. I am impressed with your achievements. I would however suggest you get a better crimper, or if you continue to use the existing one, solder each joint. This would eradicate any future failures or fires from poor connections.
