Really useful Steve.. thank you.
Super informative and brief enough that had time to watch the whole thing! Thank you!
Darious needs a back light. Good lighting is as important as sound. (From someone who has worked in lightning for last 30 years) 😉😁😁
This channel is always entertaining, and educational. Never boring.
No picture?
Really? The sound guy with ring lights on his pupils? Very distracting. hehe WTG Darious.
Glad you have done sound because all of the people geek out on cameras, shots and lighting and forget what a foundation sound is. As you can't do a b roll if the one you need is the one you lose.
Thanks Steve, great video for us newbies!
Afternoon Steve i really enjoy your camera 101 series particularly this audio episode, i use Audacity i wondered if there was a better editor / mixer software that you might use or could advise me on. Keep up the great and very professional vlogs.

Lovely video! I learned a lot.. I hope to be like you when I grow up 🙂
Fascinating, thank you so much. Love these vlogs that you're doing
Such a great video! Thank you for sharing!
We always get so much from these videos. Thank you. Upgraded our sound and main camera for the coming season. Just need to plan our shooting better. But thats another story….. Happy New Year. Sail Safe Guys, Ant & Cid. xx
Another very good video. Can you tell me which is the best all round gopro or other make for use on a boat, also which long reach stick do you use for one of these cameras. I want to use one of these cameras on my own yacht for my own viewing. Thankyou in anticipation of your reply.
Happy New Year
Chris .
Thank you for verry precise and practical demostration of using diferent mics. You are PRO. Have a nice time sailing and 5-15kt all the time 😉
Really good stuff Steve, thanks!
Many years ago I had a Panasonic (or JVC) "Binaural" stereo miked headset. It really dynamically captured 360deg sound as ones ears do. Mikes were located over each ear and shell shaped for 'around sound'. Fascinating!
Thanks again and best wishes for 2023! 👍
Very helpful video for us guys new to vlogging. Thanks for sharing – now have remote wireless mics with insta 360 and works great
Very interesting Steve, thank you. Not that many channels bother with good sound, you and Sail Life spring to mind as exceptions, but it makes a huge difference. If editing software has automated syncing there's even less excuse not to. More damn batteries to keep charged though!
Thank you for the mic education….I learned a lot.
I had always wondered about your voiceover sound feeling. I actually prefer your lavalier tone to the lip mic fwiw. Thanks for the informative video.
Lovely. Thank you very much for sharing.
Fantastic information. Thanks Steve. Microphone patterns are sometimes hard to understand, but you made it simple. Good to gain more insight into your production process. Keep up the great work.
Look at that lovely galley.
Well done and easily understood (I'm a sound engineer). Thanks and look forward to more of the tech videos!
