The problem with having two boats is time and money…..Andy is in a bit of a pickle I'm afraid and I wish them luck.
This would be an awesome deal to see go through… Would also be great to be able to continue to follow its progress and its adventures..
Buy it son
Yer a click boater mate
Mark, on a budget you’re having to make compromises one way or another. On the other hand it’s a learning experience. From what I can see you’re quite capable of making the most of both challenges. You’re young and eager so don’t let time pressure drive you.
Sounds like a good deal
Mehhh it's no Wharram… Plus it's already got that fellas stamp on it. Go your own way fella. Doer upper of a boat you want. Young free and single…. Enjoy it !
That s the boat. Beautiful.
Two good boats and sellers in a row.
The bilge keels seem great in Britain with its tidal specifics, but would have less utility elsewhere. I suppose you could just have them cut off for better performance.
The steel seems uninsulated which can be compensated in cold weather with combustion based heat. But in hot sunny weather it may not be easy to accommodate. This boat seems tailored for British waters during selectable conditions.
Also. What is this boat. I heard mention of Westerly and 38 feet, but there are a LOT of westerlys on sailboatdata and the only 38 isn't this boat.
But a small pilothouse steel with swing keel would suggest BAD fundamentals wrt capsize, windage and rolling at anchor.
But two good and interesting boats.
I gotta a Morgan 382, that I'd let go cheap. Needs work, located in the Florida keys.
Now that's a great project and worth doing. My bet is you will buy it. I hope. Good luck.
Buy this one for the shorter term and build a Wharram for the longer term! ☺️
Mark I just notice a reply , however it appears to be spam ? Should I report it? How do I remove it? Hope its nothing I did . Hate spam!
It’s really the perfect size boat for a live aboard. Plenty of room for you and your guests. Also, head room ! Which you wil appreciate when you have to be on the boat in a marina during a week of bad weather
The patches on the hull bottom, for this age boat, would make me run away very fast.(and I Love steel boats)
I think with Andy helping getting this boat together, it's right for you.
nice to see a man proud of his work, doing the best job he can,,dam good show that man,
So much work to still be done. All that work they did and its being sold well before its ready to go to sea? Hell of a nice guy Andy and very informative but it aint the boat for you Marky.
Boats are just holes where you throw money.
There is a Wharram in Rhyl boatyard. It is newly built but for several years I have not seen any activity here. It looks fantastic even after the length of time. I don’t know whether it would be for sale but possibly worth enquiring via the Harbourmaster if you are interested in a Wharram.
Just an aside I had a reply to my previous comment from someone purporting to be you and wanting to talk on telegram using your at wildling sailing moniker, it clearly wasn’t you but just wanted to make you aware that you are being cloned
No.
i wonder how mark is getting on searching for another boat.
Don't buy this boat! If he offers it for free decline politely. While this boat has lovely lines the exposed welding was rough as guts and the timber work is just as bad. The terrible exposed welding creates doubt about the quality of the welding you can't see. Don't buy this boat!
Its Steel mate. I would never ever buy a steel boat. Seen too many, looking great but was only holding together by rust and coats of new paint. I say this as a Blue Water Sailor.
Since I've been following their channel since the beginning, I'm biased and would love to see Melody go to another YouTuber.
If you want to sail then this is not the right boat. If you want to perpetually chase rust and can live with a boat then will never be smart and fully seaworthy unless a huge amount of cash is lavished on her then buy it.
It is a motorsailor so give me the Freedom 35 or a Wharram any day. Andy made a great decision to buy the Bowman and I suspect not just for size reasons.
Just my honest opinion so don’t shoot me down please.
P.s. don’t buy it until you see the drop keel in position and fully working.
Just buy a 30fter fiberglass, ready to go and be done with it
£15,000 !… lol
Buy it
NO…!!!
I heard about a guy with a steel boat got threatened by pirates. He sailed over them and went on with his journey.
