10. So envious of you going to the Dusseldorf Show. Through bad planning on my part I allowed my passport to lapse. So glad you shared it with us though. Greta channel as always.
    PS To all you boaters out there, a much smaller show and still in its infancy is the Boatlife Show at the Birmingham NEC, UK 16th to 19th Feb. In its second year, my wife and I like it because it is mostly everyday affordable stuff.

11. I think that the idea of two hatches on the fore deck is so that you can open one when anchored and head to wind but can open the aft facing hatch when running down wind.

17. Great video, I heard no complaints about the Amel, which I only know from S/V Delos as a superior boat. That seems like a great one to model Ran lll from. We did the same checking and inspecting other homes before having our home built and it worked out well. Good luck and thanks for sharing your experience.

Enjoying your channel and the exiting build, it was good to see the new boats at the show for ideas, it struck me that all the new boats at the show seemed to have a wide beam either all the way from mid-point to stern or a slight taper. You stated that your beam is 4.25m at widest point and, from temporary frames you are going traditional taper down to stern. It would be interesting to know the thought process behind this choice, as full beam width for longer would appear to be the way to go

22. ENGINE information- Johan, do you watch the YouTube channel Sampson Boat Co? Leo is an English man that is rebuilding a classic wooden boat from 1902. Look at his video on his new engine; it is a hybrid engine using diesel and electric with a straight shaft. Leo is rebuilding the boat in the US but he got the engine from Europe.

23. Why don't make a model of RAN 3? With the technical drawings, go to the next Laser-cutting shop servicing architects and have the pieces cut out of foamboard, plastic-sheets or thin plywood. In the past, most ships were built based on models for a good reason. It doesn't cost much and if it saves you only one mishap, you'd be coming out ahead. It also makes visualising the interior a lot easier.

24. I wonder how some of those windows/portholes can be replaced, they look so integrated into the skin of the boat. They would have to be tempered and laminated glass ($$$$) or eventually UV and scratches would make them ugly and degrade the view out. Good thing you took 3 days to take in all the information.

34. those fancy new boats on the show look to have a lot of led strip hidden and giving indirect lighting. something to consider with wiring and wall lining.
