Another approach to replacing the depth sounder: get a small plastic bowl. Put caulking compound around its rim and then stick it on the outside of the hull over the spot where the depth sounder is located. The water pressure will hold the bowl in place while you pull the depth sounder. Shouldn't get more water in than the volume of the bowl.
Glad to see you bought an ozone generator. It can do so much for you onboard, its a no brainer and I don't understand why every yacht doesn't have one onboard. In fact every yacht should be built with one.
Finally a boat with an ozone generator,if it is powerful enough it is going to fix any mold problem, and bugs and critters and bacteria while you are away (do not breeze).
I'll bet the time where it was just Colin, Jamie and Tom was a "HOOT!" You three guys together make it interesting for sure! CHEERS!
a motley crew indeed, using underwear as your color flags…lol
keep all the spare electronics in a "Faraday cage bag"…
Had the pleasure of seeing a humpback whale today of the coast of Costa Rica while on a catamaran. AMAZING!
Thx
Wow man! Excellent.
That is traction alopecia, pulling hair tight causes hair line to recede.
Shame about the audio loss, you could voice over to it?
That amalgamating tape is probably best to be overwrapped with two layers of PVC tape, as it's not all UV stable and can break down after many years, having said that, it shouldn't fail within your probable maintenance schedule.
Great video! Hopefully you come to the end of the lightning strike damage soon. Really feel for you guys
Hey guys! – love your channel! Can you educate me on why you travel the main over when on the dock/hook/under motor?
You have to sail by hand!, oh the horror the horror, put on your big girl panties and man up! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks you reminded me of that feeling
Fire up the engine drop the mooring and heading out. Feeling the vibrations though your feet and the surge of progress looking onward to the next navigation point. Your mind reviewing possibility of the destination and opportunity opening ahead. .
Priceless.
At lest two fully independent systems .
For depth sounder, GPS, charting, heading, radios etc. as per NZ cat one.
Some things are nice to have not necessary. wind speed and direction are under that heading
Your senses are more reliable than any machine.
I think buy buy buy 20 x
Disclaimer: There wasn’t any underwear injured during the filming of this episode.
Most likely you saw a whale 🐳 birthing because the orcas were there probably there too to try to eat the newborn baby whale.. this is why the huge whale was showing force. Just a hunch..
12:13 Tom's not a fan of "pulling it out?" Is that Dumb and Dumber behind you? Mutt and Jeff? hahaha
Ozone is probably just a gimmick. If it works then it a hazard to humans. Detergent, cleaning and ventilation is best for mold. Ozone is a poison for humans. Using ozone in secluded areas only. Carpeting had to be removed as well as other oxidized rubber and foam products which had been "ozone treated." Use fans and open up everything to have good ventilation. Have a scheduled plan for cleaning and ventilation.
Make totally separated systems not connected. Next lightning would not be a total disaster. Put electric equipment in a faraday chamber while in harbour.
Hand sailing will learn you to navigate. Get some old fashion charts. Those made of paper. Put your observed position in the chart and navigate and piloting. Document your journey with observed positions and set course lines all in the regular map. This is basic knowledge. Piloting with measurements of bearings to known fixed land positions and all known constructions like all types of nautical navigation lights and fixes.
Autopilot is not a navigation aid. It’s an equipment make it more easy so you can have less attention to navigation. So it’s an easy fix increasing risk of sailing. Anyway there shall always be a lookout. A lookout stearing the boat is a sharper lookout than one using an auto pilot.
Use spray bomb clear coat on those tie rod ends, for that matter, clearcoat anything that will corrode. It will help slow the corrosion.

You should look into toroidal props for parlay, they claim their more efficient much quieter
