Nice sea, nice landscape, nice sailing and nice crew 😃
HEY FRENCHIE,favorite part of the video 12:54 ,,and it ain't the guy in the hat….he,he ..watcting since day one ..a little cheese cake never hurt the channel.
Thank you for all your hard work and sharing life experiences openly. Fair winds and blue skies
Awesome video! I wouldn't say the anchoring technique illustration was "self-explanatory" but the rest of the vid is pure fun and you swimming roped to the boat and then submersing with the camera and out of the water is one of those pearls of videography that your channel has aplenty! Congratz on this shot, thanks for sharing and fair winds!
Stern anchors are the standard equipment in Scandinavia on sailboats but thats mostly to anchor nose in into small islands that are everywhere. That way you can hop on land and the stern anchor keeps the boat straight out from land.
I have used the line to the bow from anchor chain to turn the boat towards the waves and it works really well and its also easy to drop the line in a moment to let the boat free if wind becomes an issue.
we use this technique on our small fishing boat (6 meters) to give better access to the water so the fishing lines do not cross.
If there is tide movement (in the favorable direction) you can also attach a sea-anchor/drogue to the stern
Nice vlog yet again
HUGO THE REAL BOSS gets a step closer with the delivery of the Canadian IMOCA as predicted 2 years ago.
Safe Travels
How about putting the sternanker also into the direction of the wind. So to say parallel to the main anker into the wind direction. That way the forces of the higher windage are distributed to both ankers and dragging is less likely.
Delivery ? Please take Romain with you!!! hahahahaha. Cheers Hugo!!!
J'aime beaucoup la deuxième technique d'ancrage face au vagues, très élégante. Si un jour je l'essaye je l'appèlerai Hugo 😉
PS: Tu cavites beaucoup quand tu te fait trainer.
Lesson in applying a stern anchor while pretty drunk.
Dude, take care of “our” boat, thanks for the anchoring tips and the sailing skills on display through the channel, you are living!!
Miss that little boat, bet you had a lot of fun on her, be well Hugo!!
Oh and I loved the circular saw, chewing it’s way through your hangover! That’s totally understood, lol
I like how music from the boat overdubbs with background music for a while,it sounds kakofonic?almost and for sure disturbing and beautiful in the same time.Cheers😉
I like your second technique to adjust the boat angle. We have done this before with one minor change. We run the second mooring line through a chock or snatch block at the stern, then up to a winch. From there, we can adjust the mooring line and anchor chain. Sail-on!
Thanks for the unnamed technique for boat alignment. Also, Croatian isn't as hard as French 😛
Classic Hugo video !! Just simply LOVELY. Bon Voyage Hugo. Fair wind and following seas on your delivery.
Great work tacking through those shallows. Thanks for sharing.
Another fine video as always!! Love the crew and the vibe 🙂 Good luck on the delivery! Hope it makes for some great footage! Bon vent
I used to set up a home made 'flopper stopper' to damp down the rolling and that worked well enough, if it didn't I tended to move the boat and find somewhere better.
I used stern fairlead on the bow on 20M powerboat to primarily reduce oscillation in mooring fields, redirection to swell is a secondary benefit. great vids
I’m going to try that. Thank you.
I miss that Orange and blue boat!
Fun vid….sailed the BVI for years, good to see you enjoying it! Bridgitte looks a keeper! Thx, good luck on Oh Canada! Thx, Andrew
We tried version 2 at Double Island Point. W struggled to get the boat around because of the wind getting up. Will try it again though.
Ah que la vie peut etre belle out there! So inspiring, merci!
