  1. "We will have to climb a bit higher up …." Of course. That's one of the perks of building a banana-boat that big. Even the tallest Vikings have to climb a lot to reach the keel during the upside-down phase 😅 She's looking huge in the barn, but once You're on the water resuming family-sailing, she'll be a comfy yacht, still far from those mega-yacht sizes You think of now. Thanks for sharing!

  2. You mentioned in the previous episode that you wanted a 3D model of RAN3. It should be easy to 3D print. I can do it for you or help you get going if you want to do it yourselves.

  3. It’s certainly a big task you are taking on and I am enjoying your presentation. I have just watched the YouTube video on “Coyote, the Mike Plant story” and how he had 2 boats built, tragically losing his life to the ocean.

  4. Hi Johan you are obviously doing a very careful accurate and considered job but I wonder how you will be able to build the transom with the frames so close to that end wall? All the best Michael

  5. Amazing job !! I have one question. The boat will be a wood core fiberglass hull. How do you use the temporary frames to plant the hull? I do not understand how temporary frames are used then be able to be removed. Thanks again.

  6. I briefly watched two men build a 40' steel sailboat, then they abandoned the project after significant work had been done , and said we are going to learn from our mistakes and start over , but they set up in another American state so I never saw the next one , I was gobsmacked by the enormity and complexity and brutality of building a 40' steel sailboat , definitely not a part-time thing ,

  7. Hi, I've started watching your build from the start and I will watch it till the end. Vera seems to be having fun with the climbing frame Haha. Hopefully one day she will be sailing it. you're doing a great job so far. Good job you saw the mistake which could have cost you a lot of time. Thanks for sharing see you next time.👍

  8. What an amazing journey… Ran 1, Ran 2, Vera's arrival, and now, back to land, to build Ran 3! I suppose, depending on your experience with this build, you just might make a business out of boat building..? Certainly, the second boat would be much easier/faster. : )

  9. Your project is very impressive and your manor of explaining what your doing is helpful.
I also understand what you mean about just watching children, it’s possible to witness their little discoveries and life lessons. Vera is a fortunate child to be living the life you are giving her.

  10. You should remember that when building the boat (applying the boarding), most of the loads are perpendicular to the centerline. You will be pushing the planks and the fiber against the frames. In that direction you have zero bracing. It would be better if you would mount some diagonals right inside the frames.

  11. It's interesting to think that, by the time Ran III is sea worthy, Vera will be old enough to start learning the rigging. Won't be long before you have a crew of 3 for ocean crossings!

  12. How are you going to fasten the hull boards to the plywood? The thickness of the plywood isn't very wide. Are you expecting the plywood to hold all the kinetic weight and forces?
All of the wooden boats I've seen had minimal 6inch by 6 inch ribs.

  13. Hi good work , but I don’t understand what will happen next , what do you cover these frame with ? ,when you take out the frames how do you reinforce the shell ? Do you fibreglass the outside ? Best wishes
