  1. If you were asked to put your children on a flight that had a 1 percent chance of crashing would you do it? I listened to your indignation in the past because it is your dream but it is irresponsible as a parent to have small children on such a journey. Your goal is to make money. That is your number one priority. The safety of your family is an afterthought. It is sad that so many have interest in this type of behaviour.

  2. Ben… LOVE the videos. The voice overs are my least favorite… either let Ashley give them a go or do less of them 😉 . Feedback with love.

  3. you guys are so gnarly!!!……I've contemplated sailing that area (30 years ago) and decided against, for various reasons. You, on the other hand, with two toddlers, have the confidence / wisdom to take it on. Thanks for sharing!!! I wish I could be a monetary support :>/……Question: why didn't you process/clean/cook the squid and have a nice dinner?

  4. THAT IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE, HAVEN GROUS ON THE HULL IS NOT GOOD. IT INTERFERES IN THE STEERING AND NAVIGATING OF THE CRAFT. TRAY TO MAKE SHOUR TO KLEEN YOUR HULL BEFOR A PASSAGE. NOOOO, YOU ARE TROING A WAY ONE OF THE BEST SEA FOO IN THE OCEAN. 😅

  5. To protect yourself when flying. Get the Airborne sambuca elderberry gummies with zinc and vitamin c. Take as directed beginning about three days prior and continue three days after. You will be amazed.

  6. Great episode! As fellow L410 owners (almost 1 year now) we love watching your adventures and preparing for our own! We would love to connect and have some direct conversations about open ocean sailing in the L410. Also, curious as to why you did not keep/eat the squid? 😋

  7. 9:01 I worked on airplanes before, so here is a bit of advice: Most people think they got sick on airplanes, when actually, they got sick after. Usually people don't drink enough in aircraft. Due to the low air pressure and the dry air, you dry out quite quickly. Especially your throat/nose area is heavily strained after flying for a few hours and not drinking enough. The lack of humidty combined with beeing severly dehydrated is making your throat heaven on earth for a lot of airborne bacteria/viruses. To get around this, it is recommended to drink no less than 0.25 Liters per hour of flying. Since I learnt this in flight school, I have not gotten sick due to flying ever again.

  8. You are an Awesome Family! Adventure and common sense make for living Life abundantly. Just happened to see your channel and wanted to extend my prayers for safe passages, Fair winds and lots of smiles! God Bless you wherever the winds direct you! Enjoy Always

  9. Personally I think you keep on making decisions that are not very wise. I know you have to make things more dramatic than maybe they are but I am not sure if you keep making the wrong and dangerous decisions because
    A. you are stubborn
    B. you are stupid
    C. you are compromising for the sake of the channel
    D. you aren’t doing proper risk assessments. You have two children that would not survive a life boat situation.

Why did you not follow zatara up the Red Sea? From that decision you have made one bad decision after another, or at least you portray that in your channel.

  10. Why throw the squid away, especially if they’re freshly aboard? Clean them and freeze them, they make great fish bait and calamari.

  11. I have been watching you guys for a few years now, I started at the beginning and I've finally caught up. Now I will have to wait for each new episode, I will look forward to rest of your journey. You 2 are an inspiration to me and countless others. I am looking to purchase my first sail boat this summer and get back on the water after years of not sailing. Time to get back to my roots and SAIL!! Best of luck rounding the tip of Africa and getting back into the Atlantic.

  12. Fear.

I love you guys for mentioning it.

    So few sailing channels do.

It’s so reassuring. I aim to sail round the world asap and so few people mention fear. And i was starting to think I was weak LOL.

  13. Another great video. Would very interesting to see the whole passage planning process. What passage speed do you use? Do you work out a course to steer? (I am a coastal sailor with ambitions lol. You guys are super experienced and talk about these passages like they are no big deal but there will be a lot of us out here in awe of the challenges you complete with your young family on board. Well done! 😀

  14. Congratz for your amazing top speed record! 👍
8:50 for sore throats, simmer 2/3 bay leaves for 4 minutes. Add a little bit of honey.
Squids are so good…I would have made a giant calamari salad.

  15. Welcome to South Africa.. Great to have you visit my part of the world. Im from Port Elizabeth . All the best for your sail to the mother city Cape Town

  16. You two are literally all over the place. You are very knowable and brave sailors, teaching your young ones to be the same. I love it!

  17. A beautiful family with Big balls, I don't think somebody can dare to take his whole young family to sail around the world, I watch your videos from Somalia so if the pirates mess with you I'm here to for you guys ✌🏿
