I mean I remember when you were starting out with that 500.00 Craigslist fixer upper, and having all of those engine issues… and what you have done with her is absolutely amazing! I still love how down to earth and real you two are. RESPECT to you both for your successes.

13. You really should have an anchor winch Matt. A manual anchor gives a considerable mechanical advantage without the complexities of an electric one. I use a manual anchor on my 40 ft yacht with 180 ft of 3/8” anchor chain and a 45lb anchor. If you insist on doing the job by hand you can fit a simple metal snubber pivoted on the cheeks of your bow roller which will hold your chain as you haul in a length and allow you to take a fresh hold of the chain adjacent to the roller. This snubber flips over to allow you to pay out your anchor chain without hindrance. A pair of stout gloves should also be worn to save damage to your hands.
    I also wish you would both wear a buoyancy aid when in the dinghy. Where I sail in Scotland, by far the biggest cause of fatalities to sailors are when boarding or alighting from dinghies by those not wearing buoyancy aids – just a little slip can mean striking your head and falling unconscious into the water. Modern self inflating buoyancy aids are so light,simple and comfortable to wear that there is really no reason not to.
