Nice job. Would a vacuum system not have helped with the glasglass work?
It has always amazed me when I see, on line, large motor yachts with rowing machines on board. They are missing such a trick. Exploring anchorages in a dingy is one of the greatest pleasures of cruising. Exercise, green and fun. If you have youngsters on board you will never get them out of a dingy and there is no better way to learn. Sadly I am getting a bit old for playing in dingies so I will watch you instead.😀
I really enjoy all the sailing stories, but I really, really enjoy the boat building series as well. It's nice to see Aladino back in the workshop again.
Very interesting project – Thanks for doing this!
fuzzies are called burrs
FAAAABULOUS! These next 3 weeks will be the longest of my life, as I anticipate the completion of the dingy…and I do have a life so…that is how excited I am. I have been deep-sea fishing on numerous occasions but never on a sailing vessel. The truth of the matter is, is I tend to get a bit sick from the motion. This obstacle however enhances the experience, as I live vicariously through your adventures. What impresses me the most, is your devotion to one another's happiness. I'm not going to surmise that there are no hiccoughs in your matrimonial interactions, but it seems that any issues that might arise between you would be easily surmounted – and the rough waters becalmed. Keep up the enthusiasm and most of all the love.
I for sure pause this, hope you make some more adventures soon…
Can't wait, it's going to be beautiful.
Can that be said these days 😁 …. well, have a look into the woods, brushes and brambles around the Pacific Northwest both sides of the border …. these are absolutely packed with boatbuilders and sailors. So, what probably was the real reality in that department would be to say "… I'm yet another boatbuilder/sailor", which wasn't meant in any reducing way You hopefully knew. – quite the opposite. There are even some who're having a nice little (or not so little) U-tup cooking.
Anyway, thanks for sharing both the sailing and the boatbuilding parts which are closely connected for all those of us that don't go boatshopping at Dykstra's or A & R …..
Edit: You would have had a better glassing result vacuum-bagging. Way lighter and way stronger than the cure-in-between method. And way easier to achieve than all those pump'n pipe merchants want You to believe.
With fresh ply a very light spray of water will expand those 'nibs' and when dry and sanded will provide a super smooth surface for epoxy and fibre glass.
You are a SUPER craftsman ! I have done a lot of boatbuilding with West Epoxy (mine is NOT NEARLY as good as you). West has different thickeners… for different purposes. I have read (I think from them) to not thicken with sawdust because it steals resin. I know that Sven and lots of builders use dust, but I have started listening to the manufacturers when not too expensive. All the best.
I could watch Aladino talk about and build boats all day. Beautiful editing in this video. It really took us through the journey in such an artful and satisfying way.
Wederom bedankt voor deze mooie aflevering Aladino. Wat een vakman ben je! En Maya een dikke duim voor je editing.
Such a nice story to look forward to each week. I really appreciate both of your attention to detail and quality of finished product. It's just superb!
Especially nice episode for me !Nice to be able to reminisce to when I made my two-seater canoe kit at age 16 !

Out of interest did you consider a split nesting dinghy?
Coming along beautifully
I could watch this all day long, alas home projects beckon, so I shall get back to Aladino’s outstanding presentation at days end. A cup of coffe, boots off, on the porch, yes that will be fine.
Awesome! Thank you
😊😊😊
This has become my 'Zen' channel. Just watching Aladino extruding patience over everything he does, and Maya showcasing it wonderfully. Thanks guys.
The combination of gentle narration with outdoors shots and very gentle music gives me a sense of there being a healing element to these videos, for which I'm most thankful. Thank you!
What an interesting construction method, it's so precise and modern, but still reminds me of birch bark canoes sewn together with spruce roots. Also, those rafters behind Aladino? mmmm
