Lee you are a great teacher!
Good job captain!
Question? You anchor with windlass only or do you use snubber to take the tension off ? Cause you said something about being anchored in 50 knot winds….just wondering. either way, this thing is a tank now!! niiice work sir
I've had part of my deck ripped up/ Not fun. Bllessings all.
No such thing as over engineered Lee. No Samson post on that boat. Maybe add a massive cleat ahead of the windlass so the chain can never be on only the windlass. The chain gypsy is likely the weak point now.
Nice to see that the windlass was serviceable , though if I was in your situation , I’d probably be towing another boat full of spares and consumables 😉😃😂🍻
It would not be a proper boat work episode without Lee crammed into a locker. Nice job Captain!
Another excellent piece of work. Going to be one well-built sailboat.
😃👍
It doesn't need to dry out if you removed all the rot otherwise you will chase it forever. The old saying that you should be able to crane the whole boat up by the samsom post. Liked
Loving your videos, another great job done, ✅
Maybe a new coat of paint in the locker would be a complete job 🤷♂️ great stuff !
Thanks buddy, Im going to pull mine apart asap. Never done it. It works fine. But I need to have it work.
Ugh, owning a boat seems like so much work. Wth!? Are you guys intentionally trying to discourage me from buying a yacht? 🤔
Yeah Lee!
Archimedes invented the windlass over 2000 years ago.
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing well, very thorough job , l like it 👍👍
Super bummed I will have to watch this 2-3 more times before next weekend….
Honest to God Lee, there is a huge difference in your countenance now that you aren't under the former pressure. I could tell you were actually enjoying yourself for a change. "You know you can't cut corners on a sailboat!" Tell 'em Lee.
The smaller model of those windless had a sacrificial hollow s/s pin in the shaft to protect the motor , It always gave up at the worst times so i replaced it with a solid s/s pin , Never had a problem just went by aer , If she started to work to hard just back off a bit & THe solid backing plate a MUST . Good job , Now to protect the electric connections ?
Boat yoga, keeps you limber!!!
I can help you change a light bulb if you need me to. That is about the extent of my boat repair knowledge.
If it’s done like that from the beginning…I’d love to have a quiet chat with the Pearson Yard manager who looked after our builds. The toe rail is also fun…
Lovely video 😢 can’t wait until you sail Catalpa II down to Australia 🤞🏼
