Ophelia looks O'mazing! Good job 👏
Hey, glad you've got out of the boatyard and back at sea. Hull looks good, especially from a distance! 🙂
Wowsers you 3 goter done. An she's looking quite spiffy I must say .. don't worry when you paint her she will be fine… She looks great now… When you look back in a year the changes will be amazing!! I just know it… ✌🏼💗😊⛵
The Boat Looks Great!!! Can't Wait For The Next Video!!!
🙂
Looks great. Ablative the only way to go, though higher speed of cat may ablate it faster. So long as it has reasonable copper content you'll be good and fouling in Charleston will be mild. Amazed that seacock did not leak. Better to have raised bottom paint level vs. issues with decorative bootstripe. If the cat still has gelcoat, I'd go for buffing and sealing, as once you paint, you/owner will need to renew every 7+ years. I would think wave action will wash off any acid wash left. Newer underwater lights do last longer and they are fun at night and attractive fish, but you have more important items to spend your $s on.
One question – do the diesels have sleeved cylinder walls? I've seen a bit of what looks like excess smoke in exhaust and would think inplace valve reseating and resleeving (if possible) with new piston rings would help renew engine. In place in this instance does mean raising engine up in engine room to remove oilpan and removing pistons. Might do cylinder head gaskets at same time, but that's a lot more work/ breakdown..
Great commercial for Skittles!
Love the 14 year old sense of humor. I too have the same….. LOL
Nice work in a relatively short amount of time. I’ll be curious to hear about paint performance because that was pretty inexpensive stuff!
"Tabasco sauce". look up on YouTube, I am going to try Tabasco sauce this summer in the mosquito valley in California US.
Congrats on keeping to the 6-7 days in the boat yard, that doesn't happen too often. Boat looks great in the camera.
👍👍👍
Looking really good guys!!
Great job. Question, where can I hear your theme song in its entirety? I've only head parts of it and I don't recognize it.
Yes, with the boat out of water, it’s obviously a much bigger boat.
This brings back so many memories… A few years back, I hauled my 45' cat to do the bottom (and a long list of extras). I sure remeber that feeling of TWO hulls. Cat's are great until you do the bottom sanding and painting. Then I'd have given anything to have a monohull. Less draft on the cat to sand and paint but having to do it TWICE really plays with your head. Well, it did mine anyway. Great job guys. Oh, by the way, sanding and painting was the ONLY time I wish I'd had a mono, the rest of the time the cat was by far the best. Once you get her dialed in you'll never look back. 🖌
Showers, Bug Spray, and Ice Cream…Woo Hoo!!!
No to underwater lights. Never put unnecessary holes in a hull. Buy waterproof led strip lights and dangle them in the water when you need them.
I sell that paint. We mostly use red on the wood oyster boats here. 100 year old boats. Works great except for on the running gear. Anything metal tends to get barnacles. These boats sit except during oyster season. They are big boats and take 10-12 gallons. Yours came out nice. Safe travels!
Best thing of all is not finding any big surprises when she was out of the water.
Comet cleans that shit off on my decks really good . Makes my decks super clean. I wonder if it works down on the waterline .
Your channel is really good, a lot because you are perceived to be yourself, no excessive luxury, you struggle like most others. With the difference that you do this in a fantastic environment. You three are a wonderful team! Keep it up🏋🏻♀️🤟🏋🏻♀️
Great video! Have read great things about good copper bitten paint, was looking at it for us. Do you have a clue want coper paint was used? Have seen were copper paint should last over 5 years.
Very good news there weren't any significant bottom issues. I was surprised (even though it never appeared in the videos) that you didn't haul it for an inspection. I was watching another channel – Refit and Sail – doing a refit on a Contessa 32 (my dream boat) when he came across a crack on the bottom of the keel. Of course, it's a boat with an encapsulated ballast, so maybe it's not a terribly significant issue to fix (haven't made it to that episode yet.)
Again, great videos.
Love the shot of the "keep away from children" warning on the paint! You guys definitely are hard workers. Looking forward to seeing your other upgrades soon.
Hi guys. Just wondering?….. Yachting World had an editorial about adding cayenne pepper to bottom paint. Have you ever heard of anybody actually doing this? Don't know the proportions but might be useful in a test area. Bon Voyage. Cheerio Jon
Boat yard chores drinks. Pay double 🥃🥃🇨🇦🤙
That must have been really hard, not talking about the shaft. The amount you did in a short time was amazing. Mind keep the tall bit up and the wet bit down. HAHAHA not 14 born in 64 . But still 18 in my head.
Looks like lots of dirty work. Rivers seems like such a trooper!
How itchy was it sanding the copper coat? Compared to sanding ablatives or fiberglass?
With any crack, drill a hole at both beginning and ending. The size of crack is the size of bit so you can catch the top and bottom of your crack. You will never stop the crack without the drill holes! Good luck with your repairs! It looked like the anti corruption nut at the end of prop.
Nice job looks wanderful
a bit of advice….if ya gotta work stop yappin' and work LOL
Deet >>>>Deet >>>> Deet !!!! no it does not cause cancer but it does keep mosquitos away …….definitely
Product name; MUSKOL… no not sponsoring this comment
Did you say you gave Rivers>>>>>> 'coke'? LOL hahahaha
@SailAway If there was ever a video that should have been set to music it should be this update and the Theme song to Rawhide.
Rollin', rollin', rollin'
Rollin', rollin', rollin'
Rollin', rollin', rollin'
Rollin', rollin', rollin'
Rawhide!
Lauren and her Skittles. Hahaha! God bless!
Paint it with Petit Aquaguard cheap and lasts , We painted our Chris Craft Scorpion a 42 ft high power off shore racing boat , It stayed on that and worked for four years , it my last longer on your boat .Your are not going 60 Miles Per Hour.
I hope you figured out when living in the tropics you sleep under mosquitoe netting.. you should buy one for that little boy if not for you. A good one will last for years and it a must when living on a boat in tropical areas.
She probably was a runner,, you know the type,, a couple of extra water stripes…. lol
New to your channel , what Cat and what yard you guys at ? Good work !
I have heard very mixed results with copper coat.
There's your problem right there on a cat when you start in on a bottom job it's like doing 2 boats
If your headed to the tropics your gonna need mosquito nets for the beds
