Yoshi, your love of family, your hard work to continue the life you love is amazing. But we all know this is the Bonita and Tallula show and you are just the co-star. It was over 5 minutes into this vid before we got to see Bonita and just a small snippit of Tallula. Just saying. Only kidding mate you guy's are amazing to watch. What you are willing to do to maintain this lifestyle is impressive at the least. Good luck on the new boat, looks like you plan to make anamazing home out of her.
Great work, the teak deck might look nice and last untill your first refit but honestly in the long term I think you will be better off removing it and epoxying thel lot like your old Nandji. Keep strong your doing great.
I've used linseed oil on my wood deck with two coats and it did a good job.
if you have termites inside the boat i would imidiatelly assume that hey are all over the wooden strcuture., have a really good investigation on the boat, specially at night, absolutely no noise/the less noise possible to listen for wood eating activity. a piece of wood might appear good and load bearing able but it just a 5 kg pressure point away from breaking. worst come to worst a phone call for the previous owwer to see what can done about reparations i. this sitution started under is ownership and he should be brought up into it, and idealy compensate you guys with at least a couple thousand bucks to help replacing the materials and labour cost. on the other hand this is a fantastic opportunity to really know the boat inside out. i wouldnt be put down emotionally if the worst situation would present itself. it just more work and a result that will suit you better in the long run. ie, a biggar cry at the begininig for a better and cheaper experience in the long run. boat life at its best!! go legends!
Great job you are doing.. Hope I was there to help, lots of entertainment.
cries you guys are working hard, and working good, very impressed!
So is she Independence, or Nandji II ?
How f….king good is "free" fishing rods and a slab! It just keeps getting better.
Wow excited to see your new boat, happy for you guys
You guys are doing amazing job. Your hard work will for sure pay off. Stay hydrated and eat lots of veggies, fish and fruits. Hugs and love, Dr. Bet
She is coming together very nicely! Hiring some help will be a huge back saver and actually help you get her back in the water. I think what will determine how long you keep those teak decks will be how hot they get on your feet. I think you and the little will all need some deck shoes with teak decks. That said not replacing them right now will save you a lot of time and money. Also, you can decide if you even want them to be real teak in the future or fiberglass with the spongy teak looking pads designed to keep your feet from burning.
Looking really good 👍
Hi Bonita and Yosh, my take away from this episode is many observations. Two young Australians born into a country built from hard work, community, integrity, we were once called the lucky Country for all these reasons. Today this has changed immensely, sadly😢. These are qualities you both have, stay authentic as per normal, work hard in life for your dreams, your babies, you never sold out to agendas and today it’s very obvious who did, people will eventually flip over to those who kept their integrity in check. Don’t feel guilty about employing locals from other countries to assist, you are actually assisting these wonderful people to feed, home, build their own dreams in life for their loved ones, this is how our world should work, if many more worked on this mantra what a beautiful world we would be. It should never be about hand outs, but hands up! Help your fellow man so to speak.
Socialism, communism is oppressive, and should not be supported as we would never get to live our own dreams, sail on Nandji, you two are true blue! ❤
Can you incorporate solar power on this boat?
Given enough time and money he has the skill to fix the wood. I got a Tayana 37 with similar problem and dryrot in bulkheads.
Did the boat come with spare parts?
My original belief that you are the perfect buyers of this boat remains unchanged. You totally understand what’s wrong and needs fixing – and most importantly you have the time, energy & skills to fix it. Most of the rest of us would be tempted to buy this boat but it would be financial suicide to then pay an army of professionals to fix it up. But you can do it yourself. A bit like building your own family home. An amazing self-investment in the next phase of family life.
What a project, eh? Yosh and Bonita are so skilled it makes watching the progress interesting. Not understanding a single thing about yachts my first thought would be to demolish the interior completely and rebuild everything like new including all mechanical, rigging etc. I know it would be costly in the short term.
So excited to see you making progress! Be well ❤️
A carpenter tip. Set your saw blade to 10mm more then the board you are cutting. Safer and more accurate.
Man that’s a lot of rot. I hope you guys got a good deal on the boat. I know you’ll have it all spiffed up in time though. Best wishes.
congrats on the new boat– you are both amazing in what you have done over the years– you have tackled some huge projects both sailing and boat reparis. Re the teak decks. They're a pain in the arse and I have a personal policy of never owning a boat with teak deaks… However when you do need to change them, my suggestion is just get rid of the teak. Glass it all up and put non skid on. Its a big job but replacing with teak is hugely expensive and then in 10-15 years you have to do it all again… Phil
New drinking game…..take shot every time Benita says " And ..Yeah"……I was tipsy after 5 minutes. LOL….great vid guys…..the aft cabin is coming together nicely.
The short video's suck. They don't do it for me.I know Youtube wants you to do them but you doing so is running me away.I want to see full length video's of your restoration and sailing adventures..I believe I'm not the only subscriber that hates them…
You guys are doing a great job, can't wait for you to sail. I am living vicariously through your family.
The BEST! good work 😃
Love you guys ! Keep pushing. Many blessings a coming.
Why not keep the Boat name? Its realy a Cool Boat name!
Amazing job, family that works together stays together, Can’t wait to see her sailing
Cabinetmaker VIc here…. A handy tip is to transcribe your template onto 3mm MDF which is dirt cheap, trim the 3mm to fit you space perfectly. Once it is perfect, then transcribe that exact shape onto the final piece of ply or solid wood that the shelf will be. Then chuck or re-use the 3mm MDF piece for a smaller shelf. I often use an electric planer or belt sander (hooked to a vacuum exractor of course) for trimming the 3mm piece. Sometimes a power file can be useful too.
hows that little eco flo yosh XD sorry mate, i couldnt help myself you sweaty daemon.
As for why 40% of your viewers aren't subscribed…I have no idea why this would be..I subscribe to all channels I find entertaining or useful..I try to comment even if its a short nothing comment because its my understanding it helps your algorithm. Financially supporting you is out of the question as I'm disabled surviving on Social Security.
Well done legends!
