Watch every one brilliant when do u think u get it in water
Sorry, I had to cancel my contribution owing to the overly loud music that ruined the watching pleasure, especially after a number of comments to the same thing. All the best for your project without my funds.
Another good video
Thanks!
Ben you are so hot ❤⚓️
Keep up the great work guys I truly envy the both of you and your project, it's coming along just beautifully!
I can't wait to see just how many solar panels will be installed on your wheelhouse roof? I suspect that you'll have more power than you require, not a bad problem to have!!!
Love the video – keep up the fantastic work. Since you are in Brazil, why don’t you provide us with typical Brazilian music in the background which would differentiate you from all the others.
I liked the explanation on the pulley system.
Nossa, sempre quis ver o guincho, mto bom!!
E que genialidade na construção, pessoal desse estaleiro é muito criativo hahaha
Sailboat is one word
That purpleheart bulkhead is beautiful. I have been using pirpleheart on guitar builds and as MP says it is hard to believe that the colour is entirely natural. It changes colour under UV light so it is important that the varnish protects against that but once it is protected that colour will stay looking just as good for many years.
How is work proceeding on the engine room? Is the engine ready to go back into the boat? How will you do that? When you were ballisting the boat did you take engine weight into account? The purple wall does look nice.
The more furniture , etc. added = the heavier the boat. A heavy boat rides more smoothly in choppy seas, and usually more slowly. But if your sailing . . . . what's the rush ? ? ?
When I use to laminate boats we use to call the plain fiber "choppys" and the fiber weave one "cuttys"
Also I enjoyed the explanation of the pulley system as I've been trying to figure out in my head how it works for the past 2 years so thanks for that 👌🏾
Just looking at the rooftop what a lovely place that would make to steer from and relax in the sun , like a flybridge boat maybe an idea to do 👍 she’s coming on lovely looking great 👍
Have you seen the boats covered with epoxy resin and fiberglass below the waterline? They go well for many years and do not rot.
Ben don't forget to add a deep freeze for the longer journeys, the larger the better.
The name of the Fiber Glass is Chop stain
I just figured out what was distressing me about your galley!
Are y’all not putting in a gimbal stove? If not, how are you going to cook while underway?
Have you thought about using paint instead of gel-coat on the roof? Gel-coat is expensive and would need a lot more maintenance than good paint will.
As another famous wooden boat owner would say "Love it, love it, love it!"
I Look forward to your updates every week.
It is Up Cycling at it's Best as you said in the VLOG. Nothing seems to go to waist, a lot of your wood for Yaba has been sourced from the pile of wood laying about the yard. Watching some of the Older gentlemen working with at times very basic tools to make some thing that in the modern world would be Computer designed and Laser cut is inspiring but we are seeing them dying out before us and the sad fact is a lot of skills that took our tradesmen hundreds of years to perfect we are loosing in a matter of 2 generations because there aren't the Old School apprenticeship's available to youth that were about 50 60 years ago and the youth of today don't want to work with there hands. I was lucky that when I was at school in the 1970's we had Woodwork, Metalwork classes and we also had Technical Drawing as well. Now they have none of these type of Classes at school and industry is slowly loosing it's tradesmen. I was luck I went into the Military and took up an Engineering trade in the Airforce I however didn't do some of what my senior's had done in their training. I found out after leaving the Airforce and working for an airline, an old gentleman who a lot of my fellow workmates made fun of was one of these amazing skilled people and I had the pleasure of working with on a major repair on a Boeing 757 aircraft and we made lower fuselage fairing which was a complex curve and this man showed me his skills using the English wheel and dress makers chalk to make this item from a sheet of Aluminium after talking to him he had done two apprenticeships one with Aston Martin cars and the other with Hawker Siddley aircraft and the finished item was a piece of art and fitted like a glove to the aircraft.
chopped strand is the name of that FRG I give the guard on you table saw two weeks before you get rid of it 😉
CV = cavalos = horse power
We refer to the different fibreglass as Mat and Cloth
What type of wood are the plugs? The color matches the Purpleheart beautifully!
Use what you got. Moving those boats is FASCINATING
Woven roving And chopped strand mat.
Yes, "you see lots of boats come and go", BECAUSE YOU'VE BEEN THERE FOR TWO YEARS. Let's go sailing already.
Thanks
Loving the purple 💜 wood!! Such an amazing colour. Certainly a great contrasting 'feature' wall.
So cool see the built-in furniture coming along too. 😀
That wood looks gorgeous. It's starting to come together you'll be Salem the Caribbean soon
I think the compound gear ratio is going to be more like 1800:1, maybe a lot higher since I am guessing at the diameters of the pulleys sprockets, and gears. If the electric motor is turning at around 1800 RPM, then the final gear is going to be making about 1 RPM, which sounds about right. If the ratio was 70:1, and the motor is running at 1800 RPM, then the final gear would be turning 25 revolutions per minute, and boats would be flying out of the water. 🙂
Belle vidéo et bon courage les gars.
Nice job m8s, I was intrigued by the pulley system and the 70 to 1 pulley engine. Nice job m8s thanks
Nice goin thanks.
To bad the yards in such a mess , it look really sweet if it were cleaned up !
CV means Cavalli Vapore, maybe it's an old Italian's electric motor, CV in English is HP horse power
That shipyard… really. So, so primitive. What would it cost to add a table saw? To have a proper weatherproof workshop. To have steel rails and bogies to slip and launch boats safely and effectively. The method now is super primitive and looks dangerous. For goodness sake–wooden rails, grease and manpower! That system went out with the pyramids. What about dust collection for the saws. It's a fire hazard with that mountain of sawdust. And what about respirators, eye and ear protection for the workers who have to put up with the primitive conditions. Come on shipyard owner, do the right thing by your workers.
Have I mist you starting the engine?
just wanna say how much i look forward to seeing yall on the water.. dog and all- love you all.. boat is looking great
16:40 woaw! Absolutetly amazing! I love it!
19:58 "For those about to rock"! She definetly needs guns!
Hullo from Sweden!
I think I saw that there was a metal band on the keel. Could this be correct?? Anyway, on my seven meter, double ender wooden boat I have a stainless 3 mm band under the keel, from bow to stern. Also, its a tiny bit wider than the actual keel plank, and it protects the wooden keel plank. Wood is strong lenghwise, but less strong across, so eventually you will kiss the bottom, whether its stone or sand, so I hope you have such a metal band. It will save a lot of repairs in the long run….All the best !! Mikke
why dont you just rent a floor sander for your fiber deck. Its so much faster and you get a much better result. Flat. 🙂 Love you hard work..
Outstanding
I think the motor power is 7.5CV meaning "chevaux" or "horsepower". Thats about 6.6kW. Not kWh which is a unit of energy.
I'm coming up on my 90th birthday, and would like to have a ride on your boat befor I go. Been with you sense you sterted. Good luck
Gramps
How much of the original boat is still under there?
