  1. Good effort cleaning. It is important to have a clean environment to work in, and it also allows you to spot any problem areas as you clean. With weather in mind, it's a matter of prioritising your job list. I am looking forward to seeing your plans for utilising the space. 👍

  2. I have been hunting for a liveaboard boat for a while now it ain’t easy have been watching you for inspiration!!!! Crack on Bud I’m backing you all the way !!

  3. Wow! Yes it’s good to clean first. Gives a brighter picture to keep working towards. Builds determination and gives satisfaction right away.

  4. Your boat can stay in a yard for 6 months but you can't stay in the Netherlands for 6 months. You have a residence permit for France and a British passport, so just blocks of 3 months at a time.

  5. Mark, you're going to find some bad wood, that's a given and should be mission one. Both finding it and repairing it. You're going to want to be absolutely sure none of that bad wood is below the water line. Stop farting around with sponges and spray bottles. Get the thing hauled out, hose and pump out the interior. Done in a couple of hours then your set up to find and repair all/any bad wood. Get after it mate.

  6. I don't know. I think I'm going to give this a break. I don't mean to be negative, but in my opinion, the boat isn't worth it. You can't buy enough lipstick

  7. You'll know every inch of that boat when you're done. You'll also have the confidence in every inch of it. It's never really two steps back if you're actually improving what you're working on. Good work. Living the dream. Keep it up.

  8. I know you have boat a new boat.
There is a very unusual junk rig schooner made of fibre glass. The owner past away a few years ago and it’s been under cover ever since.
It’s on Facebook the market place in Scotland. You would get it £10,000 under the asking price.

    😁👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

  9. Mark repairing sections of soft ply is very simple mark out the area let's say you draw a square around it. Cut out the square with a jig saw accurately and the angle the square hole about 45 degrees then you cut a new piece of ply with a matching angle to the edge of all 4 sides so when offered up its flush to the outside of the hull then epoxy in small screws can be used then removed when the epoxy is dry then sand and fill if necessary until perfect

  10. The ply that's been used I bet is not high grade marine ply. Never but never use exterior ply. It must be marine with the kite mark a 8 X 4 sheet of 18 mm marine ply is about 80 pounds your ply looks like 12 mm so that will be cheaper good luck mark from the UK

  11. Hi, you can cut out the rotten wood around the portholes and chainplates right away. that will take a lot of time. then you will see the materials you need. do this from the inside. I would tape heavy plastic film with tape and not install polycarbonate right now. when ready use your good tape on windows stuck to inside of the hull and silicone bead outside. thats how I did mine. you should wait for 15 celcius for paint and epoxy work. cheers

  12. Poor judgement it's a dock anker, please explain that a sea canoe was a good idea, like the other poor guy that is trying to restore the free sail boat he is trying to restore and found out the keel and bottom main center wood is rotted. Love this kid , but cleaning inside , before outside haul inspection is backwards, like the other poor guy did.

  13. Had a look at Nad's new channel as you suggested.
    What has happened to her?
She has gone from natural black hair to blonde and now burgundy and is wearing an ill-fitting top of dress to match the last colour, clearly having some sort of identity crisis.
At one stage of her video, you can see a young guy in the background… is that her latest lover or is it just the guy she is currently sponging off? Not a good look.
Plus she says she needs to pay off her 'debts'… what happened to her share of Minke and when she said had she was so home sick and wanting to see her parents so much, why is she still in Europe?
Mark, put this woman behind you for good and concentrate on your new project, rather than the past.

  14. Every project starts by going backwards. It’s perfectly normal I think it’s very manageable my advice is your mindset right now is hoping no gremlins but nothing is ever like that. Once you have completely cleaned both hulls and discovered most the gremlins, from there it’s all up. Make it a game to really find everything now, turn the negative into a positive actively seek the gremlins. Then emotionally it’s all up from there. You have a world cruising platform on your hands. So your decision is right get to the bottom of it fast before you pour money into it. Then worst case you could walk away €5k behind, best case a months more work than you best hoped for, what’s to lose.

  15. Look at what you did on the last boat. You and your other half can hand this. All your fans got faith in you. I’m a 66 year old from Missouri and I’m a fan so go for it.

  16. Some of your tapping could just be that you are tapping with a solid backing to the ply rather than foam. It may not be too much rot. If you just run a bead of silicone around the old windows before screwing them back on it should keep most of the water out.

  17. If you make yourself a hook on work platform that sits down the side of the boat then you should be able to do more in the water & are you able to pull the boat in close to shore on a big tide so its goes dry. You can just use a sheet of ply with a (100×75 around the edge) on top of the mud to stand on.

  18. You can fix that vessel ,the cleaning process is good for your soul ,lots of luck and never give up on your dreams they will come true ❤

  19. Yes, like Henri says, the tab on the end of the measuring tape moves to compensate for its own thickness, depending on whether the tab is clipped over the edge of the piece being measured or if the tab is pushed into a corner while taking an internal measurement…..
In the meantime, Wow! What a lot of boat for the money! Congratulations! Way to go Mark!
Well done for all the cleaning.
An amazing purchase, Of course you have a ton of work to do, but thats boats.

  20. I think you already know the answer is it get it not land as soon as you can where you can put a tent over it and deal with replacing all the rotten wood first before you start painting and doing the windows.

  21. The cheap yellow sponges with the green abrasive side are not good. The abrasive side leaves many tiny scratches behind, I once cleaned a nasty little corner on a mirror, the green side left a blind spot on the glass. Better are the cheap or expensive yellow sponges with a blue side, the scratch site is a nonabrasive plastic kind of material.
