Filmul, filmat în 1929, este mut, dar este povestit de căpitanul Irving Johnson în 1980, care a fost la bordul „Peking” în timpul acestei călătorii și a luat toate filmările cu o cameră pe care o adusese cu el. In the early 1980's I saw a program on PBS about Irving Johnson. It inspired me to learn to sail- which I did; and still love sailing to this day40+ years later.
They don't make em like that anymore. I have spent 27 years working on the water, after I read and see this type of story, I feel pretty futile. What a time to be alive. The adventure, the danger , the innocence . All of it. Those men accomplished things that most could not
