1. Fresh cloths. One of life's little pleasures! I can almost feel their softness in my own hands. You're living the dream now, friend!

Honestly, though, it's a joy watching you turn this into a proper boat through sheer force of will and determination! Well done so far!

  2. Mark, after you fitted your sheet and invitingly said “ladies” then followed by a fragrant spritz and another invite I was surprised that there wasn’t an immediate knock on the hull of your boat.
    Great work and good job!

  3. Use the whole blade, you paid for it. Listen to your saw, and keep it making a consistent stroke. When you wanted more you sped up and used a small area of the saw. The long narrow, crosscut teeth are designed to carry away sawdust, which is less effective if you just use a few inches of the saw.

  4. That hard 'thing' you asked about is very likely part of a fungus living in wood, so there's a pretty good chance that the plywood in that part of the boat is rotten. It might not be wet now but it most definitely was at some point…

  5. Mark, Once again a wonderful and interesting video – love it!. It's exciting to see the emergence of the beautiful boat you're uncovering, one job at a time. She's well made!! And you are making her shine. Congrats and thank you for bringing us along. You're by far, one of the TOP sailing YouTubers!

  6. Nice work! Good old fashioned elbow grease and cleaning. It's very satisfying to watch. Each step forward is so rewarding. Thanks for the video!

  7. @wildlingsailing Do you have a skill saw? A hand rotary saw? Let me know and Ill ship you one. DONT GIVE UP. (PS) Could we have more 80s music as background. Funky Have good day everyone

  8. It's a bracket fungus. And that means you've got rot where it was attached. It's mycelia are the roots growing into the moist substrate.

  9. You started this project at the right time of the year. You have a whole summer ahead of you to get cracking, and, from memory, the weather in Hollland usually is pretty good to bearable until late October and, if you're lucky, into November. That gives you a good six to seven months to prove to yourself you've made the right decision, not necessarily finishing the project but starting to see the end of the tunnel!

  10. Such an unexpected bright retro/ contemporary interior, with all the curved lines , it's very cool .You're doing a great job . from a Brit in Toronto .

  11. That "weird" hard thing You ripped off the undersight of the deckheadbeam looks like a fruiting body of one of the many wood-living fungi. You better inspect that beam much closer (and neighboring parts) to check which fungus it is and what dimension the mycelium has. Some fungi vastly reduce the strength of the wood they live in over time. Usually, fruiting starts once the original branch/trunk/beam is eaten up and spreading becomes crucial for the fungus to live on. Needs further investigation in any case. Thanks for sharing!

Edit "… this is just for not having disgusting things on the show!" 😅 <proceeds getting rid of the second hull>

  12. That forward beam that fell out probably needs a pin in the bolt that secures it, otherwise it will happen again.

  13. Awesome watching your videos Mark!! I realise that it takes a lot of effort to video yourself doing the work (and capturing the minute details)! And then all the detailed editing!! All on top of the mammoth task of fixing up the boat!!! Please don't stop going the extra mile!! It is facinating watching the process. In the words of the great Garreth of "Salt & Tar: "One day you'll be floating in the tropics and drinking margaritas…..!" 😊
