Thanks!
Pleased as, theres some coating on the hull, doin well. Thanks m8s.
When I was a teen, I refurbished the hull of our wooden sailboat that had been stained with marine growth. The entire boat, including the hull was varnish. The boat had to be stripped of the varnish and the wood bleached. I then restored the varnish. The boat was a planked boat with copper rivets build in Japan. Wooden mast and canvas sails. This was in early 1960. Your boat really reminds me of that boat, but a lot bigger. Great job!
I was wondering why not take photos of Yaba and then using a computer program to change the colors so you can get a better idea of what color would look best on her. Just an idea 🙂
White with some wood accent and paint Yabá with a happy color! Like Blue…looks amazing guys! Any color is going to look amazing anyway! Love your channel! 😊❤
Thank you for the video from Norway 😀
Thanks!
Espetacular, sempre uma aventura incrível. Obrigado Yabá!!
Just to say your doing a fabulous job every time I see it progress I love it more happy days
Bottom Paint Bottom Paint Bottom Paint!!!!!
What a wonderful job by everyone!
I think you are going to paint it yellow.😮
Well its about time Ben the prep for exterior hall is underway .Setting my mind to rest after more than two and half years…
I've told you a billion time not to exaggerate.
You must feel very excited I am won't be long now and I can see you sailing her you to are super stars ⭐. Love everything you have done I'm so proud of you all. Yaba has become a butifull boat well done.
The sailing channel Dawn Hunters said their biggest regret with their refit was worrying so much about the color, and spending so much time making it perfect. They felt they wasted that time they could have been on the water . Boat paint gets messed up right away. You'll have just as good a time no matter what color it is. Peace ☮️ and love ❤️ .
Thankyou
Bright colours.yellws greens reds
i hope all your interior work holds out once the boat is in the water and the hull settles into shape and white is the best color for the hull to reflect heat
I would be thinking twice about epoxy on the hull. Epoxy does not breath at all. Any moisture in the wood , through scratches or residual moisture, will inevitably cause the wood to rot.
Get some secondary advice, please.
What's going to keep the epoxy from breaking and cracking when the wood expands and contract nothing
How does the cotton caulking work with the epoxied planks ? My understanding was that in traditional construction the planks would swell in the water, compressing the cotton even further and creating a seal. If the planks have now dried out, and you've caulked and sealed with epoxy, is the assumption that the planks will not absorb any water and swell up ?
I wouldn’t epoxy a good timber hull. Paint won’t stick to epoxy.
Where's Caillou? I look forward to seeing him every episode! … The hull sure looks lovely with the epoxy finish … Keep up the good work, love the channel.
I'd love to see a wood exposed stern.. that would give just a taste of the craftsmanship and her true beauty without the makeup "paint"
Not to be a nudge, but it's not a "ship" it's a "schooner"…just saying…
Incredible episode! So pleased you have started on the hull!!!❤
Must be a relief for you both to have made a start and to seal it. When will it be water tight?
Are you going to be able to maneuver this thing?
I could really do without the blasting music. Are u making a music video … or a boat construction video ? I'm not a child, needing continuous shifting inputs to hold my attention.
Y’all must be up to at least $12.5m in repairs already.
She is coming along nicely. Good idea to protect the planking with penetrating epoxy but I have to warn you. On a plank on frame boat, never use a epoxy based paint as it will craze with the plank movement. Found that out the hard way as sanding it off was a huge job. Enamel is the way to go. With a wooden boat(plank on frame), you just have to resign yourselves to a haul out every couple years especially in the climate you are in.
Boat is looking great guys!! Stoked for ya
