So, the whale didn't sink the ship. They hit the whale, and the boat sunk because of that. In other words, it was either their fault, or an accident. Why blame the whale when it did nothing wrong?
I'm glad to see that the animal kingdom has finally assumed an adversarial role when interacting with humans. However it happened, we were put in a position of beings stewards of this planet and guardians to those we would call "below" us on the family tree of life on the earth. We've kinda screwed the pooch as far as that goes. We quibble about the tiniest stuff, yet let the giant things like inequity (of every kind) go unchecked for centuries. We deserve to be the food for better living things.
