Wouldn't it make sense to attach the PLB to a piece of string and the other end to yourself (or the harness you are wearing). If you do fall overboard and are in shock, you may drop the unit into the sea while attempting to use it, before you activate it, and then it's lost forever.

Another interesting and educational video – thank you for sharing it with us. I'm surprised the life jacket does not have a built in "lead"/"cord" to attach to the PLB so the PLB can't be lost overboard but it's ready at hand should you need it.

That self tying boat hook thingy is bloody genius. I hope they have watertight worldwide patents on it. Access to the patent, if possible, may explain how it works.
