  15. A VPN does not protect you from other people on those same public wifi networks hacking into your computer directly. This is a common myth spread by VPN providers. They are great for preventing unwanted tracking of your IP address. But they do nothing to protect you from malicious attempts to exploit weaknesses in your computer. Things like or port scans, network adapter exploitation, etc. Attempts by someone else on the public network to directly access your computer via exploiting a weakness in your firewall or network adapter are pretty common. Something as simple as exploiting a weakness and then inserting a routine that records your keystrokes can quickly put your log in IDs and passwords at risk. A VPN also doesn't completely protect you from packet sniffers because they may have exploited said weakness in your firewall/network adapter, and see your data packets before they get encrypted by the VPN program.

    A VPN is merely 1 of many things you should have in place when using a Public Wifi Networks. Like complete up to date virus protection with Adware and Malicious program protection, a completely 1 way Firewall, and you should still NEVER do things like Banking or anything else that shares your personal information, log in IDs and passwords for financial accounts, or other things which can be exploited like say employer/retirement income & savings/government web sites etc.

Sorry to hear things haven't been so great lately 😥 I think we've colloquialised the notion of there being a reason for everything to the point of absurdity. It's not that "reason" is completely absent from our lives, or that it should be, but that we use it as a crutch for avoiding growth and often look for it in all the wrong places, a higher power, fate, a preordained script for our life, a greater purpose, or some omnipotent force of the universe that knows what's best for us. I've always found it profoundly unsettling and unnecessary to believe that the sole purpose of life's heartaches, failures, losses, illnesses, and assorted derailments is to teach us some fateful lesson that we have been preordained to learn. I think life is about creating meaning, not finding reason. 🤗🤗

  28. Phuket is a true paradise. As a US Merchant Marine I had an opportunity to visit in the later 70's while sailing Chief Mate on the S/S Green Island, Waterman Steam Ship Company operated these barge carrying ships. Again, this was another true adventure with the family. Wishing you all a Happy Easter!
