  7. I’d say for OV to access and drive your boat – you should be able to set a secret (password) on YOUR boat. So you give OV that secret so they can do what they need to do. Anything else as Elayna says is pretty dodgy. Especially in your case. Well known. But no I do not want OV controlling my boat unless I say it’s ok

We all know this is obvious but they really should not know where your boat is. If they do you need to be aware of how they get and protect that data. ❤ your channel.   24. So, what I got from this video is that there really is no way to avoid getting struck by lightning while at sea – except being nowhere near an electrical storm. I was disappointed, however, to not see where and how the strike might be mitigated – spread away from critical systems and somehow deflected off the boat – if you are struck. I suppose that they only way you can do that is to be anchored and send the charge to ground through the anchor chain. What I heard is that if you get struck by lightning at sea, your just out of luck. There is nothing you can do to avoid damage or deflect it. Have I got that right?

  26. A friend of mine was struck by lightening on the beach of Block Island, RI as a child and survived. Decades later whenever she sweats the silver chain necklace she was wearing that disappeared in the lightening strike reappears in a black tarnish chain on the surface of her skin. With as much power as lightening has it doesn't always follow rules and easily does whatever it wants to do. Safety measures aren't totally safe but help as a suggestion for the lightening to follow a path desired…

  31. To see a first hand a lightning strike in real time ON CAMERA Watch SAILING INTO FREEDOM . Peter aka Plucky was filming a storm and the sky when his mast was hit several times. You can see the evaporated and liquid metal falling to the cockpit and water. The lightning blew 3 holes in the boat, and you can see Peter keeping level headed and trying to seal the leaks in the boat form outside underwater and inside where he could. by the time he got it slowed the sumps had quit as the batteries were now dead and the water inside the boat was8 inches deep above the floorboards. . The lightning blew out his alltenators all of his appliances and all radios and navigation equipment. He was hundreds of miles from port and all alone. THIS IS A MUST WATCH VIDEO FOR ALL BOATERS. Peter did make it safely back after almost 2 weeks of trying to sail back with no weather info or navigation. His new project is TOO SAIL AROUND THE WORLD WITH NO FOSSEL FUELS. His new cat has fully electric motors and solar and even the tender is electric, the boat is bieng built in Greece right now, you can check it all out on SAILING INTO FREEDOM one of the BEST UNDERRATED YOUTUBE CHANNELS ON THE TUBES.   32. Hi seeing that carbon fibre is a conductor would the total structure become a faraday cage in a lightning storm, therefore protecting all inside ?

  34. We were heading out from Ibiza east, and it was a aormas lightning storm. We were just excepting that we were going to die. We grabbed every electrical thing we could find and put it in the oven. Hopefully hopefully that would be a faraday box?
