Orice sfaturi? 23:28 ofc you (are) not gonna "be there", once again. Poor Vernon, take care mate, life's short
Love to see the solo sailing videos, the first video I came across of you was: Solo Sailing, A day in my life-Sailing Papua. Been following you ever since I saw that video yet it is still one of my favorite sailing videos I have seen.
Great work sailing, filming, and commentary single handed. Looks like it is a very easy boat to sail single handed.
Gday Vernon. After a few years of cat sailing I ended up sailing in those conditions with just a symmetrical kite up, no main and no jib. Great sailing. Only problem is how to get it back down. I did work out a way for our 38 footer to let me do it singlehanded. My son got into a pickle with the kite only close by (around Jervis Bay) when he cruised the boat with his wife getting it down, but I love sailing kite only in dead downwind from 10 to 18 knots true. Other times I have poled the headsail out on the side that is slightly to windward and had the reacher on the "leeward" side (5 degrees make enough difference to get the reacher always filling to leeward). That is much safer but the boat loves the symmetrical and sails herself with that up. If you get to Lake Mac, send a message and we can go out on my boat and I will show you some things I have learnt. Last time I sailed near Batemans my wife took the bus and I sailed from Jervis to Sydney in a gale warning by myself, all fine and the boat was flawless, but was doing mid teens under full headsail for a while before reefing it a bit. Good cats are nice boats and it pays to keep your partner happy. Cheers Phil
While I think Marie is a great person, and I'm glad she is on this adventure called life with you, I'm also glad to see you solo sailing. That's how I found this channel, and it's a dream of mine. But, I guess I gotta take my wife with me…. 😅
Well done Vernon.
Seems the builder did a first rate job on your boat. I was previously wondering why you were so good at engine maintenance on the old boat, but if you grew up with engines you have done it all before.
Big boat to solo often. Maybe trade down to a smaller mono and put some coin into some investments on land.
I am with Marie on those podcasts
Loving your sailing videos. What type of catamaran do you have. Name and make?
Got to get out pretty wide to nullify the backwash effect from the cliffs, Sydney/South Coast.
Spent a lot of time in BB in the 60s/70s as a kid, Pop had a house next to the bridge , north side, good fishing back then.
The train runs from Nowra up to Sydney FYI.
Port Hacking/Cronulla, would make a good short stay Port from there.
Anyway, keep on, keeping on.
I really enjoyed the pilot's perspective watching you actually sail the boat. Cool vid!
Amazing the speed you get with such little wind, cats like these are the mutz nutz. perfect boat for someone like me who just wants to do coastal laps of Oz or a dart out to the islands. Can I ask why you were running on just one engine, whats the thinking there?
Interested to see how this cat performs with a big sea running , it looks sleek in the water very cool cat Fair winds mate !!
Awesome to see you visit my stomping ground. Batemans Bay is the whole Bay – from about Lilli Pilli to the South, up to North Head and then all the way upstream to the new bridge. You had excellent conditions. That bar has claimed a few boats in its time – usually stink boats trying to surf in. It's a rolly place to stay overnight!
Well thats another of lifes lessons under your belt by sailing a new boat solo, only way to come to grips with it, well done👍
More pov with commentary on what your doing pls. Great
I don't know about anyone else but I have a lot of trouble understanding what Marie is saying, More volume please. Great series of videos Vernon love the content.
Hi Vernon.
Just watched your first solo. 👍👍
When running, a friend of mine fitted snatch turning blocks to the top of his dagger boards to achieve a wider sail angle and it works well, he adjusts the height of the board to get the desired sail shape.
I use a spinnaker pole which works well most of the time.
Beware of your main if the wind is building when you are running, all hell can break loose while turning into the wind to reef or drop it. Feef it early.
Just saying. 😁
Fair weather and fine friends to you and Marie. ⚓
Hi Vernon
I saw how you put your fenders away into a deep looker
I have found a real handy solution for storing fenders and ropes
I would love to send you a photo what I did on my Catalina
How do I send you s photo?
Cheers
Reiner
G/day , mate just a quick one , when l set up my screecher/code zero , l run an endless line from the furler on the retractable bow sprint, down the port hull to the cock pit…perfect when single handing the 45ft cat😊
Knowledgeable sailor takes his Catamaran to a new port. We hope Marie will join him soon.
I’m a solo multihull sailor of many years ( some very “ character building 🙆♂️ bar crossings , mooring boy hook-ups , spinnaker sock lines entangled on top of mast …🤷🏻♂️🫢… etc )so, looking very much forward to your future videos ⛵️with your “ new toy / cat …🎉🙋🏻♂️😘take care and have lots of wonderful times
Just a small comment re leaving a line/rope on the back steps …😳🫢🫣while motoring 🫣🤬
Best wishes and fair winds
Santa
Very nice boat!!!!
We love the point of view shots of actually handling lines, raising sails, etc. Thanks. Great video!
good dvd for those with no experience and not sure if want a mono or multi – I have had both over the year's.. Big fan of mono's with rudder on the stern, not through hull and lift keel's/centreboard's
