So you mention the boat is far more stable and dry than RR1. Why is that? What about the design of this boat makes it more stable and comfortable in these conditions?
"Hot bunking," huh? Sounds worse that it is, I suppose.
I can understand you're a bit shy, Nick, of getting up on the foredeck after that traumatic first leg. I hope you can get back on that horse soon tho.
Very cool! The cat on the water! A mono hull in the water! Hard pic!
Well you are looking a lot better this time Nick looking forward to when you take your new boat out.
Nick is chomping at the bit to be on his Ruby Rose no doubt.
You told us this was a performance cruising catamaran, more pur then formance from this cat. 9 knots
Hi Nick. that jib looked a little too close hauled for 130º TWD? were you concerned with it flapping about and setting correctly? Does the self travelling jib have the option of being pegged out at certain locations on the traveller? I thought she'd be going a bit quicker for 20knots of wind. You did have a reef in a guess. What month will you and Teresa take delivery? Have you guys decided where or how you will sail it out of Asia yet? First destination? Fair 💨 and following 🌊 for your new ⛵RR2!
Thanks guys!
So excited for you, look forward each week for more. I couldn't open the store to check out the merch. ?
One more thing! I would like to see a brake on the propeller shaft to save the gearbox! (longer trips)!
Had to laugh. X
Looking forward to seeing the true polars, compared to the design polars, we'll see if it's an actual performance cat, as sold or just another lagoon condo…
Pretty wonderful.
For all the waiting and anticipation around this vessel…it seems as though you really aren’t in love with the result. Is the 1370 less than hoped for…?
Great Aussie company – Seawind!
This is a much better looking cat than the earlier models that have that double looking cab but they insist on still doing that damn swing door!
As someone who has sailed on both keel yachts and cats, you mention that the boat is so dry! YES; on a monohull, you are in the wind and the wave splashes, getting wind driven rain and on a lean. On a seawind cat you are level, sheltered as you can go to the sheltered side wheel, you don't get wind chill and you are dry! And traveling faster. If you have engine controls and steering/auto pilot at the nav station, you are warm and comfortable on night shift or inclement weather. It's a no brainer. In addition, on a Lagoon or other cat with a steering position up on the roof or half way up, you still get pasted by water and wind. As a senior citizen, the comfort difference is way superior with the seawind layout. And of course the outdoor/indoor flow with the doors open most of the time. Regards Murray and Jean.
Are you getting the thrill of sailing that you got from your Southwind? You seem to be complaining more about heavy weather in this boat than when watching you sailing the monohull. Just observation!
Wow, this really does look like a really nice boat. It's a huge step up from the 1260 and it dreams top perform quite well, looking at the numbers. I just wonder how practicall the helm is in real life. To me out dreams like on the one hand it's even more protected as the one on the 1260, but on the other or feels like it's not as versatile as the 260 in terms of working your sails and allowing the vision onto your main or "stickin" your head out to get a better look. Would be nice Nick, of you could comment on that a little.
Missing Terese from your vlogs. Hopefully we see her soon.
Great video! Only thing that's missing is Tyresa! :~)

THAT is what it's about! Can't wait for many more.
Lovely boat, but like you, I can get sea sick sometimes. The helm position, looking through the cabin -would be a deal killer for me. It accentuates that perspective of motion and the inability to look at the horizon unobstructed from the helm is a big no. If they'd do a version with an elevated bulkhead helm (just one side), this would be a perfect boat for me.
Didn't think folding props would spin and make noise?
262 dislikes already ?
As it's a test sail i'm a little surprised you didn't open her up down wind!
What a missed opportunity to really test the boat for downwind sailing, get the reef out, put up a code headsail & get the boat moving. 20knots will give you zero apparent wind over the deck.
so glad this passage is so much nicer, glad you have a dry boat also, can make a world of difference to the comfort level, here in Canada we are still frozen, just doing boat work getting ready for the thaw and splashing on the GREAT LAKES fresh water. Love RR2 You made a terrific boat with Seawind!
Okay Nick, curious as to why no coffee during passage?
Mate you dont belong on a cat. the boat sure is amazing, this whole process has been a well crafter diamond to watch (and im going back to the initial boat shows and reviews) the sheer amount of info will stand for years to come by people who would be in the market for a cat. Seawind produces some amazing products. But i really think you belong on a monohull. this is just my 2 cents, thus not worth much, but i will keep watching!!
After all the excitement dies down … it would be nice to see an actual map, course over ground (gpx file) of the boat sailing (ie no motor) into the wind. My experience of a Seawind 1260 is that without a motor it was basically impossible to make any headway into the wind, ie this boat was really a motor sailer – but still a nice boat! Good luck.
Nice to see the boat is working well. However, the sailing video of you mainly being sea sick is a bit of a drag.
Beautiful boat, although I don’t like the three struts on the forward windows, detracts from the clean view
If we don't see Tyresa soon, I'll be looking for proof of life!!🙂I hope you enjoyed your bacon & eggs, Stay Safe & Fair Winds!!
Pretty fast but dont think it’s need for speed 🙂
Is Terysa Vanderloo returning?
How is the forward view from the helm through the windows?
