Sailed out of Galveston on Ruby Princess last January. we sailed past the dry dock holding the USS Texas, a WW1 battleship being restored into a floating museum, fascinating site and sight.!!

Indeed that was a dredge ship. They are in the process of deepening the Houston Ship Channel to 50 plus feet to handle the latest round of mega container ships. At least to Bayport and Barbers Cut at the moment. I’m not sure if they are going that deep up the Buffalo Bayou portion of the channel. Most people don’t know that turning basin is damn near Downtown Houston and that’s over 40 miles of ship channel, of which at least 20 miles are various refineries and chemical plants.
