  1. A wonderful boat NOT a dock queen Well loved as they say all the heavy lifting has been done in the upgrades just simple maintenance left to be done .and a good price for what you get .she's a win win in my book .A great find Cap .tank you .and Ran-Day that bow sprit is big enough to camp out on don't you think ?😁

  2. I'll be dreaming of riding out a storm in the Milaca Straits on Serenade tonight…
This boat has the most perfect hull design I've ever seen. I'm in love. Why are so many people afraid of the maintenance of teak? Just have to get it all refinished then sand and treat 1/4 of it every season thereafter, and don't ever let it get that dry, that's it! This boat would look so gorgeous with all that teak sanded smooth, oiled and shiny, and the trim pieces around the cabin top sanded and stained with white gray stain so they blend in a little better. The wooden spars having been painted to cover repairs, that's not a show stopper, but it is a little scary. I wonder if the owner took pictures of the repairs before paint? Last thing, the drone shot of her under way was incredible, she was really moving and there was barely any wind…seemed like maybe 5 kn? Definitely include more drone shots in future videos please 🙏 Or make a video of all the drone shots you have so far, just back to back, drone shots of sailboats are magic. Thank you Captain Q and Randy!

  3. Dyneema lifeline. Sounds like paper safety glasses, or open toe work boots. Dyneema is awesome stuff and definitely has proper applications, but not for safety lines. It seems like some dyneema is better than others, it's inconsistent. Maybe there's counterfeit dyneema? I'm going to Google and check…
Edit: found all kinds of stories about how to tell if it's dyneema and counterfeit climbing rope, so maybe that's the reason I've seen variation. One story was "Dyneema vs Chyneema" apparently a Chinese knock off of dyneema. Seems like it's important to know who you're buying it from. Anything valuable is being counterfeited these days, how sad.

  4. Thank you for covering this boat! I have a William Garden Porpoise ketch which is similar, but built of wood in Hong Kong in 1974. I purchased it as a project and I haven't sailed it yet, so I'm very interested to hear your thoughts on this general design. In the case of my boat, the wooden hull has held up very well. The deck and hatches have been the biggest source of problems, from rainwater penetration.

  5. The pennies Ran-day must collect:

    Elco EP-70 electric inboard = $15,995
    Northern Lights 6kw genset = $13,295
    Nine 8D 12v batteries, with charger = about $6,100
    Total in the $35,000 range.

(I did not shop around, though.)

Puts the price of the whole boat in perspective.

  6. Not often I say this, but that boat holds zero appeal for me. Ugly cockpit, the teak looks like an expensive-to-remedy mess, and truly horrible, dysfunctional layout down below. The carved door panels are beyond tacky. Pretty bowsprit, but that's the only thing attractive on this boat as far as I'm concerned.

  7. Capt.Q i have a question for you on a 1979 Etchells Pearson 46 i guess it is considered a racing boat but could that type of boat be good for blue water? It needs lots of work and just not sure because i don't know much about Etchells boats

  8. Just magnificent below deck!! I am in love with the carvings!!! My heart is all a flutter now! This boat is well worth the price. Thank you Captain Q and Ran-Day for another fantastic video!

  9. I had a pontoon boat for many years. The original table was missing and the mounting bracket was cracked. I bought a 48" × 30" folding utility table that was adjustable to height. It worked for a dining table at proper height, it worked as a cocktail table when moved to the fore deck. It folded up and was stored out of the way when not in use. Best boat table I ever owned!

  10. Take those 8D AGM's and toss them overboard and replace with Lithium 8D's [$8800. now a day's for the works] then you would have something useful and efficient. Might want too move the kitchen to the other side and have a larger space and just make a small map desk where the kitchen is now. Love it otherwise CHEERS AND FAIR WINDS Steve h.

  11. Way over priced!! It would take 30 grand and alot of personal hours to make this boat ok. 68$ wow I would give it more like a 40 score. Thanks for the videos guys 😊

  12. I have followed your channel for at least 3+ yrs. I look forward to each episode…you and Randy make a great team …I know this might upset some folks, but Seadog, Dinty Moore and Frixenet have long past their sell by date, in fact fingernails on a blackboard comes to mind…I wish you would give them a long sabbatical. Sorry, I had to say it… stay safe…

  13. I live on and sail a 1973 Hardin Seawolf and these boats are built like tanks. It's true there is always some project to be working on, but these boats are head turners. Not to mention comfortable inside and heavy enough to take a good pounding.
You will get good at varnishing and also repairing fiberglass if you own one. But they're worth the love and attention.
