1. Ben your introduction was myself and my girlfriend MP? I have a question Ben, why haven't you married that girl yet? 🤔 I'm 61 and never been married i can spot a good woman when I see one. You two are meant to be together. Respectfully with all kindness. Michael.

  2. With the price of lumber today this restoration must have cost a bundle!🙀🙀🙀🙀

  3. Using all the scrap wood from other ships is so clever! Free materials, and plenty of History! Congratulations!

  4. Greetings from Australia
We have watched every episode and look forward to Monday to see you guys.
Have you guys have any plans to sail to Australia? it would be cool to see Yaba.
    Steve and Diane

  5. Quick tip: using router to cut deep channels, especially with hard woods, 2-3 passes with the bit, not starting with the final depth.

  6. I love the wood crafting on your rebuild of Yaba. Please choose brass handles on the cabin drawers. In my opinion only!😀🇨🇦

  7. I was just wondering, because I don’t think you guys have talked about it yet, or maybe I missed that episode. But I don’t think I’ve missed any. What sort of rating will Yabá have? Is it a true blue water boat to be sailed around the world? Or is it a going to be limited to so many miles off shore? Was just wondering if you could let us know, and also the sail plan. New sails , the rigging, and what will the wheel house and instruments look like, or what have you chosen for electronics and solar systems. I’m sure it’s all ahead, but was wondering. Thanks so much. She’s looking great.

  8. The handle making exercise would go so much faster/safer/tidier/more consistently with the router mounted in a table – doesn’t need to be anything fancy. Gives me the heebyjeebies seeing you try to freehand small bits like that. Routing the recesses and edges first, then cutting them apart would help too. Those things take no prisoners!

  9. Thinking back to that soggy old wreck and the stunning new home it is becoming it has been great to watch you both develop these new skills that you probably had no idea you were capable of

  10. Don’t you have a boat to build… “ I’ve got to have a hobby” … OH Yea, love the channel and you guys!

  11. Wow it really is one cool old sailor.. so many times I thought she would just end up being used as firewood..but it wasnt meant to be.can't wait to see it sailing..coolest boat of all

  12. Enjoy your using wood recovered from the scrap pile ! Of course making the drawer handles with all those additional steps takes time but provides something unique . . . . but 'time is money' ! ! So in the end you are 'paying for it' . . . . . whatever makes you happy !

  13. I rebuilt 2 wood Chris crafts. 48ft, 40ft. I love doing wood work. I love the work you are doing. Can't wait to see the finished product.

  14. Those handles is what your swimming platform could have looked like, if you had been paying attention better.

  15. Dear friends, you are the only boat builders using hammers and nails on a boat I have ever observed. Epoxy, glues, and water barrier compounds and screws are the normal methods for boat building. Preventing the wood from moving and preventing water from damaging the boat is normal building practice. You are not doing preventative work except paint; that is not enough! It's not a house; it's a boat on the water.

  16. Actually i would make C-handles for the drawers, much easier to make and can be used to attach ropes to them if you need to strap something to the drawer… cant have enough places to attach ropes to on a boat! Also your handles would be easier to make if you glue "full" would stripes onto stripes that already have the C cutouts and then cut these into handles.

  17. hey my boy, be careful waking with sandals near the pile wood it's a perfect place for poisonous snake , and brasil is full of it

  18. It will be a real trip to wander around your boat in the future and look at this and that and think "I did that, and fixed this and helped with those and learned about these." And you both will know that your boat is an intimate part of its spirit and resurrection. Literally bonding with karma and kami .

  19. The handles are epic. Well done Ben. Yaba is looking so good. If I recall correctly, you thought that rotten hulk would take 12 months to repair. You two have hung in there for two and a half years, created maritime art, acquired a dog, learned new skills. Truly inspiring

  20. I’m keen to learn what’s happening with the engine, generator, steering gear, navigation instruments and all the stuff that’s way more interesting than drawer handles (with all due respect). Thanks for the great videos.

  21. I know your situation is very "special", but I am very impressed with your recycle & re-use approach. With all the plastic boats these days, opportunities for this is disappearing unfortunately. Keep at it.

  22. Great work folks!
2:35 Ben, I hate to be the safety nanny, but please don't ever chisel towards any part of your body. 🙂

  23. I just have one question. Ben, you keep referring it to a ship and then you referring it to a boat. What is the difference between a boat and a ship? Oh by the way, love your videos!

  24. ❤ Hi there you all, I love your channel and can't wait to watch your videos and to see you eventually launch. Are you going to do a price reveal as very interested in how much doing this all costs as I think a lot of people would. You have a great team of workers there, very traditional and enjoyseeing their methods and wor ethics. Keep up the fantastic work being carried out. Paul from London England.

  25. Another man's trash is another man's 'boat'. How aptly put Ben. So true. You are fortunately to have so much wood lying about that is readily available. 😊
