OMG it looks amazing!
awesome episode
I learned how ships think today, thanks dude!
im so invested in this game
also i think the foodsysytem is cool
what if the ports dont start on the map but instead players are told "go foward from the (landmark) then turn right at (other landmark)"
I used to play Uncharted Waters 2 on snes, nice to see a similar game
the title number is wrong, it should be 4 :X
You should make it so if you run out it starts a countdown instead of just killing you so it’s more chill
Nice vision system
Great update, keep up the work! Btw i think release of Dredge secured You a nice chunk of fun-base waiting for more casual sailing game. Myself included 🙂
For the trading ships, what could help with ships getting lost is to setup a trading route along ports perhaps. Which would make ships favour a direction more than others and would make them completely avoid dead ends. Basically always trying to get close to the route when lost and then complete along trade routes path.
For pirate mechanics, what about fighting back? with a simple mechanic of choosing a space (in a range) where a ball would hit (same as pirate are shooting), so the user needs to predict pirate movement.
For the map, I wouldn't disclose all the ports as that is part of the fun to see how many settlements there are. Also instead of giving a few maps to choose from, I would rather want to see one map, but a bigger one and maybe also completely cover it with fogofwar, or drafts of possible shoreline that is getting more detailed the closer You get to it. Therefore, even the map size is not disclosed fully.
You should recap a bit of context in the videos, for example when talking about the mechanics I couldn't remember whether figuring out the map is the main focus of the game or just one of many mechanics. And I wanted to say if it's an important part of the gameplay, sounds like the game wouldn't be very fun any more after the map has been figured out.
