First again 🙂 Nice fish! I like the galley down but the new Tim Mumby design (Odisea 48) has the galley up and tunnel hull's. I'm wondering if that can be changed? How do you like the jib track placement on your boat. Do you think that can be improved or does it work with all points of sail perfectly?
Thanks!
Nice catch Jamie 👍
At least the sea provides sustenance, if not lines.
Can't you just put a 3m length of rope on the end of the boom and tie the topping lift into that? Then the chaffed part won't be under load.
The outer core of the line is not where the strength is. It’s the inner core… you’ll be fine. A topping lift not a lot of load. Good luck!
Nice work with that bull mahi
Hello both of you congratulations on the nice fish he caught it looked at yummy. Stay safe out there you two God bless you both. Watching from California
The Mae Mae is bigger than princess or close to it lol have a good time and be safe out in that big Ocean love your channel 💯💯👍👍
Champagne Sailing without Champagne… or Sailing.. but the ocean provides
Hey "B's"! Great episode.. Fresh sushi for each meal.! Yum! See ya next week..
A comment about eating freshly caught "raw" fish. The commercially caught fish is generally flash frozen which kills the parasites. That is especially important with salmon but I would suggest that it is wise to do it with any fish before you eat it "raw".
Nice Mahi Mahi, my guess 15 to 20 lb fish, very nice thats why it was hard and a mess. You should get a small spining rod. The smaller schoolie Mahi Mahi are 1/2 lb to 4 lbs on average will stay at the boat as long as you keep first fish at the boat and in the water, you take it out they leave and don't eat. You will see the school around the boat DON'T take it out of water if you have school use spinning rod with small jig to load up just keep flipping them in the boat. I have seen as many as 50 to 100 fish schools till usally will eat one after another and when they turn off eating you will know. Ebay you get some small leads and small plastic squid cheap I can get and make you some and more writen info. If you have a vacume seal machine you can stock up. No air in bag the fish will last long time frozen. ❤😊
Been doing research there is a special bottom paint for aluminum boats, if you are using the fiber glass/ wood one this will be an on going nightmare.❤ The 50' fiberglass boat I ran the bottom was clean after 1 1/2 years on the water, Florida, Mexico, Bahamas US Gulf coast a quality paint never went in water to clean it. 😮
Hey people's, get some locktite on the screw. Congratulations on the Mahi nice fish. Please be really carefully going past those Countries, Orcas and pirates especially el Salvador ok, mates of mine have experienced both, nasty. So be prepared James, no bloody joke. I'd say u made it ok, in real time. Sweet. Great vlog, nice music. Do ur own nails u big girls blouse. 😂🤣😲🌠👍🌈🇦🇺
You sailors are true geniuses it's so hard to live like that instead of land.
Nose to end of extended arm is about 41 inches.
Hi guys, for what it is worth, when we have reefed we use a short length of line with an eye one end, and take about 3 turns through the cringle and around the boom and sweat down on the eye (giving 2 : 1 purchase). This line then takes all the load and chafe, especially with the back and forth of a slatting sail.
Our reefing lines are really only used to pull down the reef, rather than hold it down.
Hi guys, I enjoy the sailing channel and the next time you catch a fish like Mahi Mahi try this recipe
Dice enough onions, cucumbers and tomatoes for 4 people place in bowl with lemon/lime juice, chopped chilli to taste, salt and pepper to marinate for at least 60nm with stirring every 15mins.
Cut up enough fish for 4 people into strips about 1cm square x 2.5cm long and add to marinated salad veges and stir then place in fridge to cool.
Mix up some coconut powder into a cream and add after 30mins put back into fridge for another 45mins stirring occasionally. Serve on lettuce leaf in a bowl and add more chilli to taste. The extra serves are great the next day for lunch.
It’s called Kokonda in Fiji or Kokoda in PNG
You guys are just at the mercy of your environment. I have to laugh at your dark comedy. Because it's all so pathetically obvious that you don't plan ahead for anything.
we hate low wind and open sea swells…that banging is just like you said, damaging. And it is then so tempting to start the engines 🙂 well done on putting that back together!
This video says that it's your 136th video but it's your 163 video not including your 2 live videos. Also, your website says that the beam width is 7.4m/ 24.3ft but the first facility that you tried to hull out after you did the great American loop you said that the boat was 25 1/2 ft. wide.
I don’t get it, when you use the main the topping lift should not get any pressure. The pressure is taken by the sail. Hence sailing is the way to go. If topping lift still has pressure just release that but be careful when reefing. Given your sail drops ( ours furls hence not that issue)
We have a topping rope and a hydraulic spring holding the boom up even if there’s no rope. Actually would not need the topping rope just extra safety for when the spring fails.
Another 20 minutes of Jamie having a moan…The wind’s wrong, the gear’s always breaking, visas are too expensive/take too long.
Sometimes I wonder why you put yourselves through this torment.
Then the weather improves, you catch your first Mahi mahi, the dolphins are back and the sailing is good. 😁
