  1. Hey James, just curious … you mentioned exchanging currency at the end of the video … I really wish that you had touched on that further – I'm planning on doing what you are doing once I retire in a few more years. Do you carry travelers checks that you exchange country to country, reasonably amount of cash kept on the boat, use bank wires from an account back in the US, or use credit cards to get advances? I've always wondered what everyone doing a does on these "round-the-world excursions."

  2. Does the rice gets bugs in it? We would freeze our rice over night and that seemed to eliminate the rice bug problem….in an unopened bag after two warm weeks they would show up…we were told that freezing would kill any eggs in the rice…

  3. Hey James great video. Hey, on a side note … when you are on a long passage have you ever become so tired you just need to stop for a bit and get some sleep? Is it acceptable to heave to in the middle of the ocean and just catch a 4 or 5 hour nap? I know you are supposed to be on watch at all time, but if you did indeed heave to, would it be acceptable/allowable to sleep for a few hours?

  4. Do your aluminum extrusion windows leak. I had a 82 Catalina 30 and had the same windows and they started to leak as the years went by

  5. Enjoy your videos. Great commenting, not trying to be sensational (unlike most other ones). I am planning to do this hopefully one day, and you give a great description of what it really would be.

  6. Safe travels n too Aotearoa Nz James,,, may the trade winds n currents give u sweet as passage to the land of the long white cloud dude

  7. Thank you James for explaining all this to us ! You explained everything above and beyond, once again mate thanks and safe travels

  8. I’ve always hated when the time comes that i have to leave from vacation but loved the thrill of getting there. I bet it is amazing doing what you’re doing because yes you’re leaving paradise but you’re leaving to go to another paradise! I really hope i can do something like this one day.

  9. Another informative video, Take care on this next adventure….no beer?Have visited Fiji many times while living in NZ.,Have a safe trip .when is your female friend joining you ,

  10. The land of the white cloud will be absolutely brilliant to sail around. It will be spectacular but sometimes challenging. I can't wait for you to arrive safety

  11. Noticed u like Lentils over rice, U can survive on that, taste good and cheap. Here is a recipe to make Lentils & Rice in one pot. Single serving Lentils & Rice = 1/4 cup Lentils (pre-soak 2 hours) + 1/4 cup long grain rice + seasonings (pepper, salt, cayenne, paprika) + Butter + 1 cup water, boil 5 minutes, turn stove on low for 20 minutes. By pre-soaking Lentils the Lentils & Rice take the same time to cook in the same pot.

  12. James you cover all the angles with your channel bro, this has been a most fascinating look at how to prepare oneself for a major passage, you nailed it!! My wife says you provision like a man lol, in your defence I told her that it's major difficult to cook at sea especially as you're on your own, so easy nutritious food is the call of the day, she said she'd be cooking up all sorts of gourmet lol, she needs to go on a long passage 😂 Anyhow, the story of James this week was once again incredible, thanks bro….safe travels out there.

  13. Well Im weird but I really enjoyed seeing what you bought to eat , just on GP. Oh yeah you got a Really fair price on that! Im shocked that you were able to get that good of a price, considering they know youre stuck having to get it. I Loved your Morris shirt!=Great!! You are, to me, doing an excellent job of editing & matching up real time w/ videos. Thank you so much!

  14. In the RV world we use the same type of white hoses to indicate clean water just as you used on the dock. However, people do horrendous things with those hoses and we quickly learned to carry our own hose. I could see people putting that hose down a toilet to help flush a tank….Be well and safe travels.

  15. Awesome video once again. I have a question. Do you take the paper off your groceries that your purchased before storing them away. I noticed other sailing channel do as it keeps insect and other unwanted things off your boat. Safe sailing catch you next week

  16. Greetings from Alaska, James! I just wanted to say hello and thank you for your work. You are truly inspiring and are giving me courage to pursue my blue water dreams. Fair seas and favorable winds, my friend.

  17. James how do they remove the built up shit under the straps or docent that count if it docent count there would be no point doing any of it?.
Dose all that build up slow your boat down?.
How long dose it take to get covered in that stuff?.
I cant see the point of new Zealand not allowing you in with out a wash as its all the same water, its like here they wont let you take fruit over the border in a town 100 meters away as they don't want fruit fly yet the fruit fly has wings and can fly across its just a load of bs in my eyes and a money grab.
was the girl with you when you started this with all the tatts your wife, what happened to her?.
I finely had a chance to look at all your vids.
Ty for taking the time to show as the world i always look forward to seeing your video's James ty again.

  18. I'm not sure how recent these videos are shown from when they are shot but its may 15 as i type this and it just occurred to me that its the equivalent of november in new Zealand. Winter in other words. Im sure you have considered this. Sounds like you will probably get there close to the shortest day of the year in the southern hemisphere. That would be june 21. Man 450 a month for a mooring ball. Thats as high as the ears on a giraffe.
