1. I'm a left coaster…but a few years ago I got to experience that clear warm Bahamian water. My boat was unfortunately left back in cold deep Puget Sound…but I did manage to rent a Hobie 16 for a couple days. I'll never forget it.

  2. Just another day in paradise Kevin until… some low life fly by night rental car company sorta part time employee racks up
dubious highly suspect in nature charges on your c/c account. IT is always something to ruin your day. I guess you and other
cruisers alike will not be renting a car in Puerto Rico from that company. Bad publicity matters to their bottom line total.
Otherwise it was… a very nice video once again. Toes dancing in the sand- the drone shot of RA all by her lonesome self.

  3. Spectacular Opening Kevin! Some of the best footage and music to open this " Tales of the Ruth Avery"…sorry for the credit card woes.
Folks it time we started a campaign to up the subscribers…

  4. Hi Kevin, One way to minimize that kind of credit card problem is to use a credit card company (like Capital One; I don't know if Chase offers this) that lets you generate virtual card numbers on their website. If you can make purchases online using a virtual number instead of in person with your physical card, and if you notice a fraudulent charge, you can immediately cancel that virtual number and generate a new number, so you can't have multiple fraudulent charges. If you have to use your physical card, make sure they have a chip-reading machine, because it's harder to steal the data on the chips embedded in credit cards than the data on the magnetic strip. Finally, credit cards have better fraud detection than debit cards. (I have a PhD in IT.) Hope this helps

  5. PR is not the 3rd world, son. It's America, where fake credit card charges and practically all other scams were invented.

  6. Just finished Endurance, the book about sailors who got stuck in the Antarctic ice in 1915. I think this audience would like it.

  7. Maybe we should take the bus in Puerto Rico. Sixt tried to charge my Visa $6500 for my stolen catalytic converter. Visa settled at $5500 which makes me think there were two robberies, one by the thief and one by Sixt. Of course it took many many emails and phone calls and several months to get it resolved.

  8. This is why I’ve been checking my online bank statements like a hawk for years. You would be surprised at how many little charges can slip by a person if they don’ watch them closely. I’ve had gas stations double charge me, and restaurants. Sometimes even banks can be shady. This happens to everyone eventually. That’s why people need to watch their accounts meticulously! If you don’t and your careless, they’ll get ya. I find it’s mostly banks that are doing it. And sadly most people don’t watch their accounts. So that’s why this is a popular thing.

  9. Much appreciate the real life experiences Kevin, these things never come up in the glossy bikini-clad theme of other channels. We need to be prepared to deal with these situations with very little or no communication recourses. I'm glad it was resolved to your satisfaction albeit with all the frustration that came with it. But thanks for the heads up, and as you mentioned, SpaceX pretty soon will be a necessity, much my chagrin. All the best,.

  10. Love the drone footage, enhancing your already excellent video. We are in Spanish Wells, preparing for our passage to Bermuda, probably around the first week in June, basically waiting for the souterlies to fill in. The Berry Islands are rural, like Cat Island, and Junkyard loves a nice-deserted beach.

  11. I had for first time in my life some fraudulant charges. Attempted at Kohls which they denied and two Uber Eats out of California for $104 each which I had to dispute with CHase. 2nd one was on replacement card which did not even arrive in mail yet. They tapped my APple Pay wallet which auto updates.
