Zig-zag pass way may also be safer on small sailing ship that rocks a lot or suddenly. Shorter flights and lot of grabbing.
Impressive, but if you're moving the head why not put it by the companionway…and have a totally separate shower where the head zs now?
Good luck with the 'bilge sale'
Inspiring and thought provoking. Thank you.
I think you were fortunate to have sailed the many miles in different conditions & oceans & come out of it alive & safe. The job your taking on is daunting but is over due.
You need nordhawn with electric conversion.
With all due respect, where are your wedding rings? You are such a beautiful couple and a great team. Tell the world.
Wishing you all the best. Take care and God bless. Looking forward to you rebuild.
I am doing the same with a C & C 24. Sailing Uma is Invaluable to me for information concerning structural reinforcement , not to mention all the other 'how to' examples you provide!
I want the ear rings.
What’s the point of a refit…if you don’t fix everything that needs fixing?
At 11:51, the third one down on the left; what design is that, please? It looks perfect to me!
yawl are amazing, love watching and learning.
You can rebuild her. You have the technology.
We'll nick name her the 5 million dollar Uma😊 (you know, 5 million dollar man)
It's not going to be an easy project, but you guys are definitely up to it. It's far more satisfying to build than tear out, but as an engineer, I'm convinced everything can be improved, it just takes insight into the tradeoffs you face, which you've gained on Uma. You may find yourselves transformed into yacht designers in the process. I'm looking forward to following your progress!
And that's why you're the BEST sailing channel on YouTube. You're one of the originals, and you're still on the same boat….unlike the other big channels. I'm so happy you're fixing Uma…she deserves it.
Looks like you bought a couch with all that stuff…
congratulations on being boat builders – or outfitters? Seems like a huge effort requiring plenty of skills
What a great message you are sending out. Repair and restore. Great inspiration.
MORE FOOTAGE PLEASE!!!! love the episodes. and when you sale to Alberta Canada I will buy you a drink lol…. you will get it.
Has it been nearly nine years already? Time flies:-)
Typical YouTube joke
You could put in a few temporary bulkheads (or partial bulkheads) to make sure she holds her shape.
You can't sell the boat the way it is. Its value is now negative. So you either fix it or scuttle it. If you scuttle it, then you don't have any basis for a channel until you buy a new boat. Also I think a lot of people would be mad at you (not me). For normal people who don't have a youtube channel, I would definitely recommend getting rid of the boat. Gut it and then scuttle it in deep water and get a ride home from a friend. But not for you guys.
Respect!
