Being from Cape Town I can assure you it was a Snoek fish….the BEST fish in the world especially on a BBQ grilled and basting with a garlic butter sauce. They do have very large bones and in Cape Town we ate a ton of it during the season. Wonderful firm flesh…never had sashimi, but would imagine it is similar to our Aussie Yellowtail Kingfish.
