WOW! 😱 I was wondering WHEN something LIKE THIS would happen….so sorry Teal 😢. But GLAD you WERE NOT WAY AT SEA when it happened! Which brings me to the ?, in an EMERGENCY, could the girls sail the boat if something MORE SERIOUS happened to you Teal? In watching your videos, I have NEVER SEEN the girls handling the sailing, driving, docking the boat WITHOUT YOU! Better get to work on that partner and use this as a WAKEUP CALL!

  2. Wow, Teal… That's a serious injury man. Ligaments are the worst thing to live with while healing. It just feels like a deep ache every time you breathe. One Captain to another, listen to the medics, and do not attempt anything. Trust me on that one… Reminds me of the time I fell off Concorde. We were on the hard getting our zincs replaced, and I leaned over to wipe something off the side. Leaned over too far, fell out of the flybridge, landed halfway on the deck, and then on to the ground. Hard. Broke two ribs, bruised a lung, hyperextended my right hip, and that was that. It's the absolute worst knowing that you did it to yourself, so don't fall into that trap of "it will be okay if I just do a little…" Let Linh and Emma handle things. They're way more than competent (they had a great teacher) so sit back and let them amaze you with their prowess. They got this. Best wishes, fair winds, and flat seas… Ed.

  3. Compass behind the scenes: I am the Captain now! I am the LAW…with a P [ruff]

Fast healing, Teal! By all means us pain killers, just be careful! It can get its hooks in the best of them!

  4. Torn ligament is your diet complet? vitamin C intake (cranberry, orange / citrus fruit or supplement ) Marine ppl neglect this vitamin C often in the past. Cranberry can give you a lot and is easy to carry around. makes good jelly. or vitamine C supplement you are not getting younger you need more because you absorb less. and Zinc for men is very good. Minerals water if you water is too clean. yep your water could be too clean. get well soon

  5. This injury will bring on some challenges. If you guys work together, you'll get through it. All the best on a quick recovery.

  6. sorry to hear, i broke some ribs when i got thrown onto the taff rail when the helm chair broke loose. was on the way to san blas islands. hard not to use your arms when moving. fair winds guys.

  7. Ouch! I'm guessing that with all your broken bones, you likely understand the importance of patience and waiting the entire recommended healing period before attempting to re-injure yourself. Bone mending and ligament healing are not exactly the same and when the doctor says 'six months with no heavy lifting or pulling,' that ought to be your motto. I speak from experience; a bad experience that was entirely my own fault! You have a terrific support team. Good luck.

  8. Glad to see the Skipper out there monitoring the cleaning of the solar panels… obviously important enough that it's worthy of getting off the bunk. Get well soon!!

  9. This will take a long time to heal
Rushing this type of injury will only leave you a life time of pain in ur Donkey😅
    Been there done that
    Fairwinds from the @captains.chair

  10. Hang in there buddy! I had the same thing going on with my shoulder. Takes a while for those tissues to heal and get back to normal. Take it slow and keep stretching to avoid future injuries.

  11. Teal, I am 68 years old, spent 20 years in the US Military, and was in great shape all my life. The sad truth that I had to face a number of years ago is that you and I are not as young as we used to be and we can't do everything we used to do without injury. My advice: learn to pace yourself. You can still do most of what you used to do, just not as much and not as fast.

  12. Bust him down to deck hand if he's useless . Old age strikes at any age. I know I'm feeling it. My knees are the latest victim of lots of mileage. Get better soon. Your skills are unmatched. Don't tell Mads i just said that.

  13. Get well soon, and listen to the Dr. Having torn ligaments in my shoulder and both knee, they hurt way worse (imho anyway) than a break or sprain. Let them heal or it will be rough.

  14. Emma taking charge. Driving the dingy like a boss now. Y'all probably going to have to tie the captain up to force him to take it easy.

  15. In my early 50s I dislocated my elbow doing something very ordinary throughout my life. Then I ripped a hamstring for the first time in my life. Then I started taking it a little easier, no more superhuman tricks. I was suddenly susceptible to injury……..

  16. I hope Teal gets better, but I truly think he's scared to death to leave the marina/harbor and really go sailing ! But then again , this is a show about living and working on a boat, not a sailing channel.😏

  17. I didn't want to be the one to point it out but she missed a spot on the solar panels.
Your injury might of been from catching to much Tuna lol

  18. Falling down is a serious injury. I fell down out of my 45 foot rv, first step was iced over. I’m holding my little dolly, and I landed on my shoulder twice and the steps decided it wasn’t done, and hit my lower body. You can laugh but there were yorkie poop at the bottom. I’m glad dolly want hurt but a year later, my shoulder is still a problem.

  19. Linh rockin that gym wear…putting 20 somethings to shame.
Teal: I tore a muscle but it's only an elbow, so let's go scramble up that hill…in sandals
    Emma: I'll drive

  20. TEAL. A historical name in Aviation. TEAL up until about 1964 stood for Trans Empire Airways Ltd. Well about 1964 the name was changed to AIR NEW ZEALAND.
Hope that brings a smile. Get well from NZ.

  21. Teal sorry about your elbow but I am relieved that it’s not your back if you can get up and around. Take care of yourself. Remember we’re not getting any younger you guys stay safe out there. Looking forward to next week.

  22. When you described the injury I cringed. Soft tissue injuries are pernicious and slow to heal. Be sure not to push it and give it enough time to properly heal up. If you stress the ligaments too soon reinjury is almost guaranteed and you won't be looking at weeks convalescents but months

  23. I'd guess that a automotive Ceramic or Graphene coating on the solar panels would aid in keeping the dirt from building up and rinse off quickly.

  24. Hey Teal, DM me if you want a second opinion on your elbow. I am a sports surgeon and would be happy to help. I am not sure how much delay your videos have, so reach out if you would like.
