CREAREA UNUI SUPERYACHT EXPLORER.

1. Do you know the owner of this yacht? I imagine it's someone we've probably all heard of before, or at least a company or country he owns. It would be interesting to see an interview with that person and talk to them about why they went this route and what they hope to do with it. Alas, I know that is not always possible as some yacht owners are secretive with their yachts, but a yacht this big will come out with who owns it. Interesting side note is that you said a lot of equipment will be reused, but what ofmthe equipment they can't use. This gets sold off ai imagine, but who recoup that money? The shipyard for cost of dismantling and selling it, or the yacht owner because he bought the vessel?

  2. Very interesting what Icon are doing. Kusch Yachts did similar work with those 2 Arctic Tugs in the late 80's/90's. Great explorers that did many miles.

  3. What a superb beast, it's a great idea to follow until the end of the works. Keeping this way of filming, this superb video is one of the best of its kind. Thank you David and the team.👍👍👍👍👍👍

  4. Great update on that amazing project.
I am impressed by the work of Icon Yachts…. almost inspires me to buy an old barque and turn it into a 21st century tall ship…

  5. When you showed the work on "Ragnar" I was fascinated. This video is just as good at the least.
I'm looking forward to the next video on this project.

  6. I absolutely love these conversions. It's just amasing to see what an 'old' industrial mammoth can become. It is like converting an old workshop into a glorious loft. I still think back to Ragnar and your extensive coverage of that project. Love it Love it Love it

  7. remarkable video, the video is simply special, the transition from the amazing camera work and the 3D art are simply stunning. Asweel as the little details like visualizing the deck plans in a 3 Dimensional way are just amazing. The attention to detail from the start to the end is a class for itself👏

  8. One of your best videos yet! Combining the GA with views and explanations of current progress is perfect for imagining the finished product. What a great project! So looking forward to the next videos of this. Her new captain should be happy on that bridge. Really wonderful to make room for science on her, all yachts really should do that. All any marine biologist needs is 3 squares and a bunk, and they'll be happy to get out there and do their work. Not a big ask, and easy to do for so many of these megayachts.

  9. It's difficult to say just how much I enjoy watching this type of video. For many years I have looked at the options available to convert working ships into luxury explorer yachts and this particular yacht is simply breathtaking. All I can ask for is more please, more more more.

  10. Kudos to Icon for the sustainability pledge. Bigger congratulations to the owner for providing a platform for ocean research to be conducted. I really hope that it is used every day while the ship is being used. I love these videos. Yes it’s nice seeing a yacht being built from start to finish, but to take a donor ship and use your imagination and seeing the possibilities takes real talent. I love how the owner and designer are taking care of the crew. I am not sure how many crew will be onboard but the area provided for them for their off time, if there ever really is such a thing for yacht crew, is impressive. I for one hope that Icon and owner allow you to continue this series, so far it’s great

  11. What kind of target date is there for completion? Just seems like a very huge undertaking. Maybe 4th quarter 2024? Love these kind of videos.

  12. You can stuff a five-star hotel into this and call it a yacht but it is a ship, and will always be a ship. It is good that the owner and Icon have decided to recognise that and work with it. Retain the original DNA as they term it. I like all David's videos. This series is pretty special.

  13. What an exciting project! Thank you for covering it. With so much media available at this time (information overload) your quality content stands out. It is truly great to watch your channels and I am always looking forward to the next video.

  14. I really like this, from the conversion, to the behind-the-scenes, to the explanations of what's going on and the tours. Keep up the great work!

  15. Camera work, transitions, editing, and presentation – all first class. Very well done! And the yacht is going to be awesome as well!

  16. At this point I have to wonder tho, why not just build from scratch? It doesn’t seem to save time, and almost everything will be new anyways, apart from the hull

  17. Please keep this conversion series coming…i love the engineering and thought that takes shape on builds like these. The process is fascinating…and importantly FREE for a bystander.

  18. Who do I have to kill to get a berth on someone's explorer yacht? I can't buy my way in. All I need is a free birth and food. I can bring my own clothes, kilt, whisky, beer, pipe tobacco and cigars.
There is not a lot I would not give to be part of a scientific expedition.

  19. Wow, you need to have real vision to be able to turn an old supply into a super yacht, amazing, so interesting to see the issues they face and how they overcome them. Good job David and team.

  20. Fascinating video, great production. I'd just mention that you could work on the levels. Had to keep turning down he volume as the music blared. Cheers.

  21. I am near 100% certain I watched that first video from last year, but I am equally certain I want to rewatch it now. Could you provide a link to that video?

  22. I am massively enthused to see no less than TEN 'private' cabins for CREW!!! (Thank you SO much for the GA.) This is unheard of in private yachts! I've long entertained notions of having just that number of private crew cabins in my own 'fantasy' yacht. The quality of a yachting experience has more to do with the quality of the crew than it does with the yacht itself. When it comes to recruiting and keeping the highest quality crew, there is little you can offer them other than outrageous salary except perhaps, a private cabin (and otherwise excellent crew facilities)! This yacht is the dream!

  23. Definitely a Cool the new layout. Looking forward to seeing the progress.
    Wow a crew of 19 !!!

  24. Great video. How does this conversion compare with ordering a new explorer yacht of similar length, volume and specs, both in terms of cost and delivery lead time? Thanks again David for your top notch content.
