4. A good repair. In case of something similar ever happening, the wax rings intended for toilet seals are better than play-doh. More malleable and intended as a water seal. Not being there, I can't really tell but I suspect that you did the repair backwards. I think the lump of epoxy was put on the stern tube to increase the thickness. That is the epoxy applied first, then drill and tap and then install the fitting, which you would not have to cut. That epoxy putty will hold engine parts together so it is massively strong for a tiny water fitting that isn't even under pressure.

5. To stop the leak dripping once per second, when you put the new nipple in, have a piece of tube going above the waterline, this then stops the pressure trying to push water out past the sealant.

6. Good job capitain. One problem solved.

7. By the looks of all the growth on the hull, rudder, and propeller you should probably have hauled out anyway … that much buildup will likely slow you down quite a bit.
