I know it was tragic when your mast was hit by lightening but it might be a blessing in disguise you are dealing with problems that have been largely hidden for years but in pulling the mast those problems were exposed and with help you have really started to recondition Liberty.

The compression post should have been removed for inspection and repair. The boat really lacks a lot of maintenance, your lucky that you have not had a major disaster.
