  1. For a jammed winch, just apply a distel prusik to the tight side of the jammed line to pull somewhat towards that winch. Tie in that closed prusik to a non-slip knot of your choice on the end of some other line. Use another winch to pull the new line tight against the sail, to create slack in the jammed winch.

I'd guess that's one of the few ways you'd be able to loosen a hawser on a berthed ship, to fasten it to a [double] bit if it's been winched in with a spool or capstan.

  2. I'm sitting on a sleeper bus going from Saigon to Nha Trang and thinking to myself "I'm glad they made this video. It saves me the money or effort of ever going to Singapore".

  3. I've recently started offshore sailing (out of Sint Maarten as it turns out) and the most common question I get from non sailors is what goes through your head on departure day. Your comment 'predictably excited, sensibly nervous' is absolutely the best description of the feeling I've ever heard and I'm going to steal it!

  4. Congratulations and sailing ⛵️ to Iceland 🇮🇸 one of the best people I visited two times I would say the best people Icelandic language, but dont worry people very well speaking in English language.
You guys not disappointed. Amazing beautiful episode filming 🎥 and sailing ⛵️ good luck and fear winds from beautiful Hawaii islands ⛵️ 🏝 🌴

  5. How do you store bottles of food safely, and moreover how does one store the unused empty bottles, safely and out of the way?

  6. Congrats!!! Would you ever consider to a bit of a tutorial on the pressure canned meals you created? Pressure canning seems a bit of a mystery to me, but it’s such a valuable skill!

  7. Vanlifer tip: you can clean dishes with distilled white vinegar, just fill up a lil spray bottle. Does a pretty good job breaking down grease/oil and you don’t have to use any water. 🤙

  8. FYI a Volcanic eruption has started in Iceland today. You may want to monitor the situation and consider alternatives should they be necessary.

  9. Congratulations!!!! So excited to see your adventures to Iceland.
Also PUHLEASE plan a “canned meal” lesson!!! That has completely peaked our attention.

  10. Congratulations on starting off on another amazing adventure as you sail from one of my favorite islands to another. Make sure to spend a day basking in the afterglow of your accomplishment with a spa package at the Sky Lagoon in Reykjavik! Avoid the Blue Lagoon.
