6. I done that to an alternator once, it didn't effect it

7. The diodes in the alternator must be big enough to burn the wire before the diodes.

11. Hi. I don't know how far along you are with cleaning the bottom but there is a hack out there that you could try. In the States there is a product called Peel Away and it works – all other paint removers have been gutted of their good stuff and are useless! The hack is to make Peel Away yourself from lye – caustic soda, and wallpaper paste. You daub this mixture on the paint then cover it with the paper side of a paper/plastic laminated painter's drop cloth. It's the magic ingredient that keeps the mixture damp for 24 hours. Then you just Peel it away. It softened all the paint on my 30 year old boat all the way down to the gelcoat – not everywhere, but 90% of the hull. The hack was done by a guy in the UK, so I know these things can be found on your side of the Pond. Good luck; I feel your pain, l can't stand seeing you suffer!

23. ….. I can't remember the reason given by the seller as to why selling the motor …. be interesting to see if the oil level went up after the running, if maybe there was water getting in the oil. Also if oil showed up in the coolant again ….. just curiosities running through my mind, a mechanic I am not ….. talk about awesomeness that it ran so fine ….. with the physical effort that it takes to use a scraper Stewart, was glad to see you shed the sauna suit ….. 29. Hey U-2! great job on gathering things that you need-what you cannot use you can sell and re -buy!
    Glad to see you working on the Hull again. I am still concerned of the crack in the skin of the keel . I had a CAL 41 way back and as we were floating having dinner a deep wave rolled under us. We lifted and then dropped down. Of course it dropped our keels on the Only large rock available! So it cracked and leaked. Once on the HARD we had to dig out the crack and let it drain for weeks, Once dry we dug some more and then added MICRO-BALLOONS mixed in Fiberglass resin and filled in the crack thoroughly. Then we glassed over that and it rebuilt the strength of the keel better than new.. As a cautionary measure we did both sides. Your going thru a lot of work and Money for all good things! So see if they can trace the depth of that crack and the insulation behind the surface is dry and strong.–then strengthen it. Voila, safe boat!

36. my first car was positive ground (earth) and I still have it and a few other positive ground tractors some of which are converted and some that aren't I always check where which side of the battery goes and I bet now so will you. Good call on the scraping v.s. sanding. Looks like you are making good progress there!

38. Thank you both for helping me to realise my dream of bringing my old Cornish Crabber back to life. She is from 1983 and I thought I'd have to sell her due to age and ill health but you've shown me that anything is possible. There is a saying in my old home marina near Colchester , that osmosis never sank a boat , The best I can do is subscribe and like for the time being but in future ? Best wishes from West Wales . 40. Most towns have alternator and starter motor repair shops , should be cheap to get it fixed!
