I have never seen a new loco behave that way. A majority of my locos are Old some are even nearly 50 years old and they don't run like that.
I have never had a model shop ban me and even when i have had to cancel orders I have never been told i am not welcome.
im sorry but i work in another model shop in sheffield and at this point im not surprised by rails at this point, the amount of people having issues with pre orders with them is so bad. you dont treat customers like that.
🙄
Never brought from ROS so cant comment on that but that model is appalling! Being a SR modeller i would possibly have brought one certainly wont now ! I use Guagemaster as my supplier as they are just down the rosd and i get excellent service from them in fact they rang me the other day about a coach I ordered and forgotten about ! No problem went over and got it
Equally i have a problem 009 little England which PECO have had issues with (the con rod pins fall out) again GM politely suggested to contact PECO as it would be easier 1 email and they are sending out the replacements
Now if you really want abysmal service order from KR they are rude arrogant and quite frankly the worst company ive ever dealt with ! Will we ever see the SR Leader ? Over 3 years and nothing but a damaged unpainted sample to show and still no sign of any further progress! Definitely a company to avoid !
Thank you for your honesty, newly introduced to this hobby and have become a subscriber 😊
Their loss Adi, absolute shocking just because they produced a bucket of poo. Obviously part of the snowflake clan.. bad on them, shop elsewhere..all the best
I have only had one transaction with Rails eBay dept, for pre owned items which were poorly packed and every item arrived damaged, very disappointed with their response ,so will not buy from again .
if you have a carer then you are disabled person get yourself a solicitor to explain to them that they are braking the law, then take them to the disability rights courts and when you win, they will loose you can claim very large amounts of money. the damages against them for their treatment of you and your disibility will cost them their good name your returned money and you would be in line for a big payout.
its me again, they have broken your ' human rights' and your 'disabled rights' so you can sue them in in english court and strasburg as well, but try a £ 25 chat followed by a £50 letter; if you go to the right solicitor they might just do the whole thing for you not very much at all, contact 'THE LAW SOCIETY', i am retired now so good luck and do not let them push you around.
Get to the point…
Sorry to hear this mate. I’ve had major issues with Rails due to their preordering system and I’ve had so many of them cancelled for no reasons. I don’t think I am going to continue using them anymore, especially knowing this is when they treat loyal customers.
This is symptomatic of many retailers, Adi – & under the Distance Selling Regulations (Consumer Credit Act) RoS are deliberately not specifying their reasoning for the ban because they know under the aforementioned act, you are entitled to sue them. I find this rather poor & distasteful on their part, & in fact, I would rather take my business elsewhere – I'm not going to spend moneys, when because of one faulty unit – & a critique of same, RoS fabricate (& defame) your character. Such hypersensitivity from any retailer (without proven causation) is reprehensible, & thereby unworthy of your custom. Obtain your deposits, & forget about them – it's not worth concerning yourself over. Do take care, Sir,
Best,
Andrew 🙂
Hi there
This honestly doesnt surpirse me, Rails of Sheffield's attitude towards their customers is erratic at times and other times its fine. An example is they claim that every model that goes on their Ebay page is tested and then wondered why I wasnt happy when I reciecved a 200+ quid model that didnt work that they admitted they didnt test even though they sold it as a working model.
so the kindest way of putting it is they can be extremly daft at times.
I like yourself bought a lot of models from them but I've slowed that right down as they are the retailer I've had the most bad expiernces from due to their attitude mostly.
Its really strange that they would ban you for life though.
No way never heard of this before..wow…
Simple, go to Hattons. Cheaper too!
Narrow minded of them, with double standards.
I use rails a lot not had any problems with them but they can just ban you if they like. Would say its was down to your video. Other stores I have had use with outstanding service were TMC model shop & from Scotland KMS Railtec these to shop will go out there way to help you. Just don't go to hattons worst place ever & that's my local store
An excuse for poor customer service. See it more and more with retailers.
It looks like you cost Rails a lot of money.. The D class are obviously tight to gauge and while it takes a minute for experienced bodgers to fix it's a bit of a nightmare for people used to things that work first time. Lots of special editions never turn a wheel and I expect when your review came out these people went round their mates place, a mate who actually has a layout , and lo and behold its faulty and back it goes to Rails, Es ah reed it on ole Adi Pullen's blog" quoth they, hence they put you on't black list. I found a model shop in Cornwall which short circuited the issue by taking a dislike to my father in law on our first visit and with eloquent rudeness made I never went their again. If a shop has enthusiast staff then a D tight to gauge should take a minute or two to fix, if not well that's their problem
American viewer here, I actually made the owner of a model railroad store very angry over bringing in a brass model train into his store, he really does not like these kinds of models. After the incident I avoided the place for nearly 3 years until earlier this year when I bought some models from the place. (It’s closer than my usual model store and I was expanding my freight car fleet so that’s why I returned to his store.)
In person they made me feel like I was disturbing their leisure time…. but I also have never had an issue with the quality of the items purchased.
Find another dealer, Hattons are better, but this Dapol D class is overpriced and has poor reviews that I've seen.
What ever happened to the old adage "The customer is always right" Sounds like a case of defamation, Cant see this firm lasting long.
.
There phone calls should be recorded you should put in FOI request for the calls in question
About your D Class pronlem:-
1 Is your track secure, as in pinned or glued?
2. Did you check that the front coupler wasn't in the way of the rails?
3. Did you run the locomotive in?
I looked at the track with the said loco, and as I stated in the other video, that Ibcan see what the problem may be. The track in front of the crossing isn't lined up properly.
Perhaps it will surprise you but what is interesting to a much wider audience is the history, quality and rarity of old models. Nothing scarce or unusual about new stuff except the latest "bells and whistles" and the list price……and the protection from the packaging if that is poor.
Adi . You could say that I have vested interest as I have a large Hornby 3 rail layout all in boxes – some original – which needs to be fed into the collectors' market. Tom
Hope they lift ban sounds crazy
There are lots of different places where we can buy our model railway items and each of these needs to protect its' customers because we do share our experiences.
I'd also try Frizinghall Models and Railways in Baildon they have offer Great Customer service.
Just seems like shooting themselves in the foot and giving away money to the competition in the long run.
I'm sure the staff of other model rail shops won't be stressed in the slightest to receive your money instead of RoS.
I stopped buying from Rails years ago. I live in Australia and every time I ordered from their website they refused to deduct the VAT from the price.
On top of that I found their prices were always rather high compared to other retailers.
I found the straw that broke my back was when they made their exclusive models with Bachmann and yet again charged way over the odds for substandard models.
I won't shop there. You have given me confirmation that I made the right call. You are not missing much. 😅
After watching the whole video here and listening to Adi tell me 3 times he and his carer have always been nothing but polite, I get a funny feeling we are not getting the whole story.
It may well be that Adi is a tough customer who decides on an engine and puts a deposit down, then changes his mind, calls up and wants to either swap his deposit over to another engine or take a refund or if the buy hasn't shipped yet, wants to change to another. Two grand a year on stock is a lot of railway stock so there would have to be some contention somewhere.
Some people are like that and can pester the crap out of others almost unreasonably. If a deposit helps to build the engine and has already been transferred to the builder, little wonder RoS get toey when it have to take money from somewhere else to refund a deposit on these exclusives. You know exclusives are a bit different than mainstream engines and stock. You have to be more patient and allow a bit of slack. It's only fair but some customers can't see that and treat exclusives as if they are common enough – which they are not. They are rare and buyers should remember they are getting a bit of stock that may only have a build run of a couple of hundred, if that.
Maybe over time RoS have become fed up with some customers chopping and changing and haranguing RoS constantly over what they want and don't want.
As stated elsewhere here, the engine in question is not made by RoS, they just sell it. I'm sure there must be other not so positive reviews of stock Adi has bought from RoS and yet a lifetime ban has not been the result.
I'm just sayin' there's always at least two sides to a story. It's easy to stomp down on a retailer. They have a duty of care to not respond in kind to negative remarks. Keep in mind that for every one complaint here there are ten happy customers.
Cheers fro Downunder 🙂
Sorry to learn about this.
You mention attending the shop with a carer and Rails stated they were unhappy with your alleged attitude towards their staff.
If your alleged attitude is directly related to a health condition which is covered by the Equality Act 2020, then Rails’ actions could be considered as unlawful Disability Discrimination (as defined by that act).
If Rails’ staff were unhappy with your alleged attitude, then Rails could have discussed the alleged issues with a view to Rails being able to make reasonable adjustments (under Section 20 of the Equality Act 2010) in respect of future contact /visits with the shop.
Disability discrimination is completely unacceptable and should be challenged.
It would be interesting to hear a comment from Rails. Always two sides to every story.
Olivias trains are the worst.
I think maybe Rails need to reply to this. I’m very surprised. I’ve bought a few second hand items from them in the past and never had issues when items were faulty or damaged in transit – they either offered a full refund if I sent back the item or a very fair partial refund if I elected to keep it and do necessary repairs myself.
Something about this doesn't add up. I've only used Rails a few times but they've always been good with me, looked at trying to fix things I've bought of them, replace or refund them, so I've no idea. There's plenty of other shops to choose from though, so don't let it stress you.
Hi Adi. I'm new to you're channel too. You have gained one more subscriber and Rails have just lost another customer. I wasn't happy with my last purchase from them either, after ripping me off for the VAT (I live in Oregon!) the item arrived damaged due to their lazy packaging efforts!
To add…21000 views, I bet you're loving all the attention, Rails must be hating it. Serves them right treating the customers like that. Banning people it's disgusting!!!!!!
Rails of Sheffield should be closed down!
Good video
Obviously I don't know your personal circumstances, but if you are classed as autistic or something along those lines that could course you to be considered abrupt or rude to staff, as long as you have explained this to a member of staff (so Rails is considered to have been informed), then to ban you for this, would be in breach of the equality act 2020 and Rails are committing an illegal offence. If this is so, please take some legal advice, even if its only from Citizens advice bureau. I myself am registered as Autistic, and when you get people like your local GP receptionist calling you names in front of people, and then for the manager of that practice to claim I was the one who was being abusive (despite having witnesses to prove otherwise) in order to dismiss a claim that they were in breach of the Equality Act 2020 (This is now in the hands of the Parliamentary Health onwardsman, and even the Care Quality Commission agreed the staff are poorly trained in matters like that and It was my official complaint that made the CQC carry out a inspection 2 years early and downgrade our GP practice from outstanding to requires improvement) It really makes you wonder how some people can be in a job where they have to deal with other people, and then complain when they either get someone with whom their can be communication issues or a versus reasons, or where there is a lack of understanding.
I have to be blunt about Dapol, most their stuff is all for show and not for blow. I have never read or watched a positive review on there N gauge stuff, the only good stuff I have of theirs is either 20+ years old or rolling stock their still making from the old Wrenn range (Some of which dates back to the 1960s under Hornby Dublo). If you look at my model railway on youtube (Look for Bungay Railway Station), I have dapol signals. I have suffered a 25% failure rating, in some cases within in weeks of being new. People think the new 00 gauge loco to tender coupling is good, trust me it is likely to fail within a few years unless you leave it operantly coupled. I have phoned Dapol customer service a few times about their signals and just got told to return it to the shop I got it from, which is easier said than done once said signal has been installed and wired into the layout. I find the pickups, back to back measurement, and electronic component quality from Dapol all haphazard, which is why I will not buy anything manufactured from them any more. I will buy stuff 2nd hand if its cheap, because you don't mind having to do a few repairs or mods to make them run well. I find it amusing that there is at least one reviewer on here who never gives Rails or Dapol items bad reviews even when there issues as plain as the nose on my face, but constantly knock Hornby un-neededly for any little thing.
I always look around for the best prices, most of the time I am able to get things of ebay, but when I do buy from a retailer, I now use Hattons.
