1. Well Andy that was fantastic. That cockpit enclosure is perfect for the job and I can't wait to see it finished. You have so much energy and so many skills. Keep well and safe. James.

  2. Andy, will there be extended protection at the sides? Because rain will follow the wind and side-swipe you in the cockpit…

  3. Even if he didn't put a roof on it, the corner of the solar panel is below head height. Worst case, you might bump your shoulder on it. Some of you overreact to the smallest things. The Bimini is looking good. I can't wait to see how much power you draw from the new solar panels.

  4. When you are close hauled in a blow how far down will the boom come? Looks like it could be very close especially once you have the grip rail on your fibreglass roof.

  5. I like it that you've got some tacky surfaces and woodwork that definitely needs refurbishment in the cockpit area, but you're not letting vanity get the better of you, and you're leaving the rejuvenation until you have overhead cover and structural features either finished or more established. Sticking to priorities is always the way to go if you're level-headed and have the drive.

  6. Hi Andy. You've probably already thought about his (so forgive me if you have) – what about a sunroof in the canopy big enough for you stand up through. I'm sure SV Delos has a similar thing.

  7. Why not put a zippered flap in the retractable canopy section so you can poke your head through without removing the the retractable section of the frame?

  8. The cockpit enclosure now looks like it should work ! For the clear panel at the front of the spray hood, we have found that 2 zips that zip up each side and across the top of the panel allow us to partly open it to let breeze through, but at the same time keeps the lower part spray proof. Much better than opening up from the bottom. Obviously if you’re going for solid glass / Perspex there, that won’t work, but might be worth a thought.

  9. You have a lot of work coming up in the next few weeks i wish you luck Andy glad to hear jack is learning some more skills good wishes and love to Melissa and Oliver 😊😊😊

  10. Hi guys, I’ve been watching Matt from Duracell fight last couple of years and what he’s doing with this yacht is incredible like you said what you are doing is nothing compared to what Matt is doing on Duracell, anyway, Andy, love what you’re doing on Ocean Melody She is coming together very well. Keep up the good work. Love your videos. Little Oliver is growing up fast. Cliff from Logan city, Queensland Australia 🇦🇺 🧑🏾‍🦽from the big island🧑🏾‍🦽🦘🐨🌏🐬

  11. I am begging you to stop pointing at this in front of the camera. Use the camera to point. Please, I am begging you. It's getting worse every week. I counted over 20 plunging fingers in front of the camera lens in the first 8 minutes. Please control yourself. Long time subscribers. Love you guys,

  12. Hi Andy love what you are all doing.
Just a thought with your cockpit enclosure extension I did something similar on a boat I had .
Sliding the extension in and out like you have done was very tricky over a distance. You wont be able to keep the canvas on, is it at all possible to have it so it folds from underneath do you have enough clearance from the helm. As I found it so easy and quick to fold it up and have the canvas always in place.
If you hinge it from the very end you will need a couple of legs to hold it up .
The legs will fold up with the extension.
Or if you hinge it from a distance from the end you can lock it into position against the upper tube. Then you wont need the two legs. Hope this is of some help . Regards Gordon Perth western.

  13. How will you attach the canopy to the telescopic bit without the fixing points stopping the tube sliding in and out? Holes and hook clips?

  14. So glad you have Matt from the Duracell project to 'advise' on fibreglass tech stuff he is amazing to watch especially when some projects are vacuumed bagged, which is a technique I have only seen once before on specialist surfboard manufacture .

  15. If you add separate slides to the bimini extension you could make the extension roof section permanent, even fiber glass (with a window), which would make it a lot firmer. With a suitable, easy to use locking system, pushing it forward would be a easy and fast, in case you need to pop your head up for a quick glance forward.

The dingy on the front deck is not ideal in my mind (visibility, launching / retrieving, deck space). I understand the mizzen boom is in the way for a rear mounted dingy lift / solar panel mount. But if you move the mizzen boom up a bit it might be doable. When living aboard you seldom have too much solar and making dinghy launching / retrieval easy is also quite valuable.

  16. Thank you for sparing us a few minutes when you were about to film your main sail check. You rember us, the two elderly people, Rita And Cliff. We are a mazed at your progress to date you and Melisa have taken on a challenge we could never imagine doing. And your making a good job of it.This episode we found really good especially your talk about how you have planned your future work. We look forward to watching you do it. Just in case you not sure who we are we are the couple who met Melisa on the Snowden railway. Say hi to Melisa for us. Love and best wishes Cliff and Rita. ❤

  17. Looking fantastic Andy!! Love the new angle on the enclosure. Looks much more streamline now! Had you thought about using a bushing material such as delron in the extendable bit? It would make it a much smoother action to push in and out I would have thought?
