Welcome to America!! Too bad you are getting such a rough welcome. You should have headed into the Gulf of Mexico where there are more places to hide and less hurricane probabilities (Western Gulf where I am). All on your birthday too! How unfortunate! At least the wine was good, I presume. Happy Birthday gorgeous!! You are in a very historical section of the country. Cape Canaveral for the space and rocket exploration (my aunt used to work there), St. Augustine for the oldest city in the US (or something like that). Spent a lot of time in that area as a kid. Try to visit Cocoa Beach if you can, a fabulous beach, at least it was when I was young! Things will get better, they have to!
Not sure of your timeliness, but I'm sure fellow YouTube travelers from near there, like tulus endless summer, spear it animal and sailing the far side can give you great hints on anchorages and everything else

Ahh the cape Canaveral lock. It was my first step as a brand new captain in my sailing journey. I kept my boat at Merritt Island for the first few months when I first bought her. This video brings back some great memories of that area. The rocket launches are pretty amazing to watch, and the visit to the space center really is amazing. It brings a great perspective. The ICW is full of derelict boats,wrecks, and under equipped ground tackle vessels that drag. Especially during those crazy lines of storms in Florida that bring 50 knots winds out of nowhere. They blow though fast, but it really can be a sporty 30 minute rodeo, on what is otherwise a clear calm blue sky day. Watch your depth on the bannanna river! Cheers!
