Două șuruburi din senin | Ep. 226

Totul doar fredona. 1. Oh, man, hopefully Baby Ruth is found, otherwise maybe a Portland Pudgy. Hope you Mother is doing well while your Father was away for surgery.

  2. Kevin, sorry they clipped your dingy . It never ends sometimes.
I didn't catch what you used for gudgeon material, but you gave me food for thought of going with the same set up .
    Angus

  3. Kevin, regarding the anchor, I've had great luck with Rust Kutter, a phosphoric acid based rust converter in a spray bottle. Wheel the loose rust off mask so you don't breathe in acid must and protect eyes then spray the surface rust. Let it sit overnight. Wire wheel or sand again. Then you are painting what is chemically no longer rust.

  4. I had my boat broken into while on the hard for a couple weeks. They broke in during the final weekend and took random obvious stuff like binoculars, small electronics, and similar.

    Utterly infuriating.

That said, I live in a high crime area, so while I’m unhappy about the break in and theft, it’s not unheard of here. I’ll be even more careful to remove anything of value next time.

I sorta thought rural(ish?) Maine would be a bit more neighborly.

I hope you get baby Ruth back in good condition.

  5. This is an interesting theft.
Usually, things are taken to be sold.

I don't think this is the case with this crime. The outboard would have been easy to fence or sell and probably more profitable than most items.

The dinghy, on the other hand, is big and bulky and likely harder to sell.

This crime looks like one of need more than greed. It is highly likely that the items stolen were needed by the thieves for their personal use.

The dinghy will most likely be repainted and probably never re-registered (assuming it was registered in the first place). If so, it will likely be very difficult to recover. My guess is that it will be on someone's fishing boat.

  6. Been using that Petit product for years on my galvanized tunbuckles, anchors, etc.lid must be cleaned or you will never get it off again. Hope your Dad is OK. I had a dinghy and motor stolen. Got the dinghy back. Police reports can work. Fair winds.

  7. Thanks for the update. Crime is bad and it's going to get worse. Can't even leave a delivery package on your porch for a few hours anymore. Doesn't sound like a professional job though which means dumb criminals and a good chance of recovery.

  8. A few years ago, I had a sailboat at a marina in portland maine , shitheads preyed open forward hatch, and ripped all my electronics out by their wires. Then stole my toolbox, binoculars, nice foul weather gear, brand new $400 tiller autopilot. And sprayed fire extinguisher all over everything. You got lucky with that outboard

  9. My main pet hate ,it's funny how thieves come in all manor of descriptions, I'm currently parked up at a camp of homeless people while I work to get to my yacht in Mexico, every night I come home expecting to find something missing, what I have found out there is unwritten rules in these camps like no stealing no coveting thai neighbours donkey 🎉 good video

  10. Nothing like work in the yawd!! Hey, nobody touches baby Ruth! Who are these men, some sort of heathens?? Hope she makes it back home soon, Kevin. Jeff and Julie s/v Oolala Westsail32 #81

  11. Man! Boats with a lot of wood require extensive maintenance. I can’t imagine what it was like in the Middle Ages maintaining big wooden ships without the technology we have today. By the way; what kinda person robs a boat yard in Maine of all places. I’m losing faith in humanity!

  12. On a different note, I noticed your boat has Brunswick as the home port. My boat (Shannon 28) had Harpswell as it's home port until I bought it and changed it to Olympia. I believe Harpswell is next to Brunswick ? small world !

  13. Sheesh, now I need to go back to the yard and find some way to lock up my Fatty. Sorry to hear of the loss…lost my Minto last year too…kind of a bind when it functions as transport.

  14. Crickey a thief in the night ! Well all is gone when it come to honest criminals. They deserve what's coming I guess..RRrr

  15. Have things changed somewhat in coastal Maine? I lived there through the seventies and there were plenty of jerks around- there’s a-holes everywhere (especially when it came to summer peoples stuff)but I never knew anyone that would steal another man’s tools.
